That's ridiculous. My son has really taken to be a fan of the NFL this year for really the first time, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna take him to a game to witness the incredible stupidity of a few fans.

Tragic. I wonder if it was a "talk and die" situation, or if he just went straight home without seeking treatment. I knew a guy a long time ago who died in his sleep after getting into a fight a few hours earlier. Hope they catch the guy.

This will be a difficult manslaughter case to prove without solid evidence and witnesses who saw it happen to determine who started the altercation. And the autopsy would need to provide that the cause of death was attributable to this incident...

What a waste. People take their sports way to seriously.

Wonder if it was from the punch or if he fell after and hit his head. A little nothing shot is all it takes. I remember Natasha Richardson fell while getting skiing lessons, she didn't even hit her head but just something about the way her brain shook. She was dead a few hours later.

He was only 44, what a waste, and all over a football game, it's like parents killing each other over their kids sports..............

A good friend of mine once killed someone in a bar fight (a long time ago). A group of guys attacked him (it was a small town bar and he was an outsider), he fought back and hit one of them, that guy fell down and hit his head. He apparently seemed fine but when he went to sleep that night, he never woke up. The police ruled it self-defence so no charges were ever laid. Tragic though. Head injuries are so unpredictable.

I wonder how many people died after encountering Dalton and Wade Garrett? I know of at least a few but when a guy walks in with a razor in his right boot then what are you gonna do?

So how would going to a hospital prevent the death? Do they hook you up to something?

    Serious question

If you have a concussion you're supposedly supposed to stay awake for an extended period of time.

It might not. I'm no medical expert, but I do know that without an Xray, CT scan or MRI, the doctors have no idea what's going on inside the head. So if the doctors assess the person and decide a scan isn't needed, then going to the hospital won't do a thing. If the doctor decides to order a scan, then treatment will obviously be started once they know what the condition is. Obviously with treatment comes a much higher percentage of survival and full recovery.

I don't know what the system is like in the US, but here in Canada, it wouldn't be uncommon to be sent home without an imaging scan being performed, unless there were other signs/symptoms. Now if they see something concerning, then of course they'll perform a scan.

Down here it would really probably depend on the type of insurance you have. Like whether or not certain things were "covered" and all that.

Man I kid you not my little girl climbed out of her crib and thumped the carpet in her room. It scared the absolute crap out of me and my little boy was standing in the hall in time to see her do it. I called the Doctor's office and asked them about it and they told me if her pupils were sorta dilated then to not let her go to sleep. It seems like there's always conflicts among what people say in the medical field.

My doctor also once told me that people under the age of 40 cannot get ALS as it's never happened (long story why that was even being discussed). My doctor was 100% wrong. He's been wrong numerous other times too. Doctors, especially family doctors/general practitioners aren't as smart as we often think they are. They know a little about a lot.

Oh for sure. When my gallbladder was messed up it took them forEVER to figure out it was finally that. I had literally every single symptom you could think of but they still couldn't figure it out. I honestly feel like I would have died if they hadn't figured it out because I was in just extreeeeeme pain for so long that my inside of my body actually felt inflamed. The morning I got it removed I literally couldn't even lean back against a seat because my back was so inflamed on the inside. Seriously the worst time of my life.

While it's true you could have a bad doctor, in general, I'd listen to them over anything I read on the internet. Maybe the fact that it was a baby in question changes things.

Theres different schools of thought on the staying awake thing, some Dr's feel its ok to sleep as long as someone wakes you up every couple hours to be sure their condition isn't worsening.
