Man, I love this site. Nowhere else can I talk Steelers football in May!

First off great positional write up, B&G. Here's my take:

    AB, Wheaton, Moore are in.

DHB makes it on ST ability alone.

Bryant would get snatched off the PS in a heartbeat by Carolina or some other WR-needy team so he's on the 53 unless he's a complete disaster in camp.

Archer if he is actually considered a WR and not a back is your 6th.

J Brown is still PS-eligible so he'll end up there, though aside from his height, I don't know what they ever saw in him.

Looks to me like Moye has to beat out DHB to stay in Pittsburgh. I like the kid so hopefully he makes some noise as a gunner in camp. Unless Archer is a RB, then Moye is in.

I agree cotch was replaceable but what this really comes down to is the number 2 WR. While sanders wasn't great he was still a threat. Brown is the real deal and is going to take a lot of the coverage so if the number 2 guy can at least be a threat its really going to open things up for Moore. Moore has the potential to be more of a threat then Cotch was. My dark horse for the number 2 is Bryant. Really though we could be comparing Cotchery to the wrong guy in the slot. Let's say Bryant does steal the number 2 spot then that would push Wheaton into the slot. Let's wait and see how the preseason. Unfolds I think its going to be pretty interesting to watch.

the amazing stat on moore is the first downs. he's at nearly half his receptions account for a first down. that's something special. i'll bet cotch wasn't anywhere close to that.

I sincerely hope you didn't put Munchak's Johnson as your background lol a first name in there or an initial would've made that post a little less hilariously awkward.

Wait a minute, Cotchery had 1 good QB
in NY, and Cotchery was just young when
Favre was there. He had Mark Sanchez
trying to throw him the ball, where as
Moore had a future HOF throwing him the ball
and his numbers still dropped? I know where
my money will be. I feel Cotch was a salary cap
casualty, can't afford to sign them all, but to say we got a better player.I don't think so.

His third year in the league was when Favre was there andiIwill give you those were his best two seasons but what about his ffirst two years in Pittsburgh? Cotchery benefitted from AB being unstoppable. He was the other teams 4th concern when it came to pass defense. Watch he will have a horrible year this year when other teams are focusing on him. Moore fits what we need in the slot and will have the same if not better production then cotch.

He only played 2 seasons with Sanchez. His other QB's were Farve and mostly Pennington, whom he had his best season to date under.

His first 2 seasons here with Ben throwing to him were typical Cotchery seasons, around 200 yards 0-2 TD's, last season was out of the norm for him so why is everyone assuming that he would duplicate that? Could it be he had those numbers because he wasn't the focus of the defense?

As for Moore having Breese throw to him, what is Ben, chop liver? And his numbers were down after a 1000 yard season, something he doesn't usually do, so no big surprise. They were more in line with his normal production.

How much REAL playing time did Cotch get
with Ben? How much real playing time
did Moore get with Brees? What were the target
numbers associated with each player? I'll
bet moore was targeted a lot more. I hope
he does well for the Steelers, but to think he is better than Cotch, Just my opinion he is not.

The Steelers did the right thing not overpaying for Cotchery he's a backup WR, they will be fine at the WR position.

Moore was targetted 54 times, caught 37 in 2013.
Cotchery was targeted 76 times, caught 46.

Can't be bothered to do a full season countback, but the link is here: http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/p...ort/receivingTargets/qualified/false/count/81

I've said it before: Cotchery was valuable here because he read Ben well when the play broked down. If Moore has the same chemistry remains to be seen. But for that reason, arguing with stats won't really help.

the stat that stood out to me was first downs from the passes caught by moore. it's about half. nearly half of his receptions were for first downs. I thought that was pretty impressive in itself.

I'm hoping mann has a good camp with DHB too. I'm not worried what he's done in the past, but what a stable team, locker room and team mates effect have on him here. I'm pretty excited about the possibilities of having DHB, bryant and archer on the field and running the DB's deep and bell, AB, wheaton and heath working on LB'ers underneath. any combination of these guys could do real damage to defenses. can you say mismatch? that bodes well for us this year I'd have to say.:smiley1::cool:
