Starting Center Named

Oh, she's well aware, trust me.

 

I know that a few people have the opinion that he hasn't started many games at center but he has on the OLine. It also should be noted that even Pouncey had to start somewhere most people are adding the caveat that different situation with completely turned over line.

The Steelers typically like to go into the draft trying to have several options so they don't have to reach on glaring holes in the team. They had Finney and JC but still went for Green. I don't get a lot of news coverage like fans actually in or near PA but from the end of the draft I don't think I've ever read or heard that they were planning on either Finney or Hassenuer starting and easing Green in. It has been Green working with Ben a lot.

 

Provided it's not the same Pro Bowl center who shanked it over Ben's head on the first snap of the Brown's playoff game, I think it will be an improvement.

 

But fortunately we still have the guy who just stood their waiting for someone else to pick it up.

 

This is not meant to compare a HOF'er with the new kid, but Dermonotti Dawson never started as C in college. He did play his first year at G in the pros before switching over, just hoping they struck pay dirt again.

 

J. C. Hassenauer is listed first on the depth chart, which if printed on paper wouldn't be worth the cost. Have to believe the position is Green's to lose, especially if Hassenauer's and B. J. Finney's injuries are at all serious.

Green was given the Day off?
BJ then took the snaps and left with an injury.
JC came on and he left with another injury?

All 3 centers were out by the of only the 3rd day.

Actually, Hass is the starter on the team's first depth chart, which doesn't mean much.

If you're starting this game then it means you're most likely NOT the starter come Week 1.

 

I thought in the past the Stillers didn’t post a depth chart until after the final cuts? Is this a recent process or have I just not checked this millennium?

 

Officially? No they don't until the season begins. Unofficially this is like asking the laundry guy to scribble down an order so all talking heads have something to talk about besides the new stripes in the parking lot and rumors of fresh duct tape on the weight bench

coyle has been taking snaps as the emergency center. 4th guy since last year. a guy that can play all 5 positions they said. he started LT for 4 years in college.

I think they are required now. At least that is how it seemed from what I heard someone or other saying about it. Tthey said something about how Tomlin hates the depth chart at the beginning of camp and wouldn't release one if he didn't have to.

exactly. Just like them starting Antoine Brooks over Arthur Mailet as the nickel. They probably know more of what Mailet has done in the league so they want to start the guy with less experience to get more evaluation. Same with the center position.
