The trailer for the upcoming Star Wars film dropped this morning. I'd watch it.

The trailer looks cool. Hopefully it's better than The Force AWakens.

Okay, I have to admit I haven't kept up with all they hype and everything when Disney acquired the franchise. This is a stand-alone film, right? In the same universe but doesn't contain any of the characters we know? As long as it's a decent SciFi movie I'll certainly see it.

As far as I'm aware, yes. They probably will talk about characters we know, or maybe even show a glimpse of them, but it's supposedly not going to have any main Star Wars characters involved in it.

    Same here. :D

Hannibal is one of the greatest tv shows of all time and Mads Mikkelson is the man. I thiiiiiink this is the spinoff film he's connected to. If so, I will pay to see it just for that reason alone.

I'm pretty sure you're thinking about Rogue Squadron. Just off the top of my head.

I also hope it's better than The Force Awakens because in order for it to be better than the Force Awakens it would have to be REALLLLLLLY awesome! LOL! I know you'll wanna kill me for that.

Don't get me wrong it was reasonably entertaining, but aspects of it annoyed the hell out me. Rehashing lines from the originals, stowaways in the MF's hatch, the way they introduced old characters was ridiculously predictable. The struggle between father and son(again). How in the world did Rey figure out the jedi mind trick? I'm in deep pooh here let me see if I can suggest these guys just walk away. WTF?

She's a jedi. She didn't just figure it out. She's very connected to Luke and either his daughter or niece. That's why when she showed up R2 actually woke up. He sensed Luke's presence.

I understand that she's a jedi, but she's had no training. Hasn't even seen examples of it being used.

oh, i cant argue with any of that. I'll even add to it. if you drain the sun wouldnt the world be destroyed
anyway? To me it was all about catching up with old friends and actually watching a star wars movie versus the crappy 1,2 and 3 we got.

Supposedly, the script for episode VIII has leaked. If true, she did receive some training as a small child. BUT...

There's even more to her "origin" that I'm not sure how I feel about. It could be either epic or downright cheesy depending on how it is executed.

No. I won't say more than that. And I'd advise people not to go looking. It's probably false. But if true, you'll want it unspoiled.

From what I read on a site that broke down the trailer, the release date is supposed to be 12/16/16...
I will be there, too!(Although maybe not on opening night... those are ridiculously crowded...):thumbs_up:

I thought her example of it being used was when Kylo Ren was probing her mind, and she turned it around and probed his...

Anyhow, I get what you`re saying about re-hashing the original movies, I kinda felt the same way, watching it at the theater, the 1st time...

I was like, "Damn, I get that they wanna be "true" to the first ones, but this was kinda like watching a mash-up of the 1st 3 movies all over again"...

However, when I rented the dvd, and watched it again, it was kinda cool to see all the references/similarities to the originals.

I knew not to expect a "brand new" story, and appreciated the "throwback" stuff even more.
I thought that was far and away better than the Prequels...

Just my 2 cents, and I`m looking forward to "Rogue One".

I`ve never really followed all the "spin-offs", in books/comics/cartoons, so I don`t know all the details of the characters involved in those, and this looks well-done.

Also, contrary to what Towel said about none of the original characters being featured in the movie, apparently there are some credible rumors that Darth Vader will make more than a cameo appearance...

Take rumors for what they`re worth,,, this is just stuff I read on the web, after all...

Looking forward to Rogue One a lot.
It took me far too long to sit down and watch TFA, but I liked it. Kind of felt that while it ignored the expanded universe, it took a lot from some of the video games, which was cool.
