Looks pretty solid.
Great text book tackling on hunt and hooper.
Yes, love his tackling.
Must have the nickname “Mickey” aka Mike HAMMER
Kid has some pop in his tackles. He looks like a big old farm boy type, naturally strong.
Agreed, nice surprise today, took charge and fit right in
Hunt was coming with a full head of steam and Spillane stood him right up. He's a very strong dude. Want to see what he can do, because Bush really hasn't impressed me at all this year.
They will need him and UG III to step up with Bush out.
Yea looks like Bush could be done. Tomlin called his injury “significant which is never a good thing or something you wanna hear.
Tomlin also mentioned Marcus Allen filling in too.
Switch em out if you have to. Defense has to be consistent for that to happen though. If Offenses are successful in moving the sticks, it will be hard to sub both Spillane and UG3 for the Offensive Tempo will be increased.
I was impressed with this kid!
Was concerned when Bush went out. I had flashbacks of Dirty Red running through my head. I thought Spilane came in and played solid.
UGlll is Not the answer....... I had high hopes for him but when the Coaching staff takes a backup safety who has struggled to make the roster and keeps him as an ILB OVER UGlll that should say what they think of him!!!!
Spillane played well!!!! He is Bush or has his speed but if he is disciplined in his assignments and makes solid tackles we will be ok!!
Well UG lll will get his chance to show what he's got, Tomlin said Spillane, Allen, and Gilbert will play.
Spillane definitely was solid. Had another great tackle near the end.
Definitely need to watch him. He earned some reps for sure.
Spilane had 5 tackles today and one assist. He played well Terrell Edmunds had one tackle.
I was very impressed. Still worried about the drop off from Bush but today he did way more than I would have expected.
I mean, if you simply focused on the receiving touchdowns given up then maybe. I thought he has been one of the best players on our defense this year. He brings a lot to the table. Didn't have any splash plays (picks or FF) but has overall been great for us this year.
He filled in nicely... Hope his climb continues, with the loss of Bush and that does suck!
Focus on everything, both stats and eye test. Across the board, his numbers are worse than they were last year. He's not playing as good as he did last year. I would expect him to be better than his rookie season
He's still better than any alternative. I thought he was doing a great job in run support so far this season, for the most part.
If you just multiply his first 4 game stats by 4 to get a per 16 avg, he would only be down about 1 tackle a game, he would have given up less receiving TD's while allowing the same completion percentage to last season. He would pass his sack tally, and who knows with turnovers since he didn't have any before going down. He got the green dot this year, and has looked much better than last season and was only going to get better. Only Minkah and TJ's loss would be more impactful for our defense... I guess we will agree to disagree on this because really outside of a couple plays he has been phenomenal.
The Question with Spillane is how is he in coverage. I think we'll find out next game.
I knew the kid could play and am probably the only guy to mention him. he hustles.
UG3 needs to get healthy.
Probably bring the rookie brooks up?
I like your avatar, pretty cool.
