Sorsby to enter supplemental draft

I wonder how much of the public browbeating is to dissuade future cases like this?

I do wonder how he counts under the CBA / when a college player becomes part of the "collective" of NFL players.

But even if he does, it sounds like the league believes they have complete control over whether or not a supplemental draft happens / if players are eligible.

Those lawers' kids aren't putting themselves through college though. Gotta get that revenue!

The CFL is a pretty pass focused league since there's only 3 downs. Maybe not the worst path for him now that he's burnt every other bridge.

I see this as an opportunity for Sorsby's lawyer to earn his money and make Sorsby a free agent. Available to sign a $100 million dollar contract with any team he wants.

Just go back to the judge and have him issue the same order to the NFL allowing him to play this year for "Health" reasons, or face a $1 Billion dollar lawsuit.

 

I doubt Texas Tech would take him back there was too much uproar over him playing this season, maybe another school would take a chance on him.

 

It wasn't just Beck a lot of guys got an extra year due to Covid, or some BS medical excuse like Chambliss.

 

His attorney withdrew the lawsuit to get his college eligibility back when he declared for the supplemental draft. It was withdrawn with prejudice, meaning they can't just re-file.

I'm sure he will try to sue the NFL, but I don't think the NFLPA will back him, so best of luck taking on that army of lawyers.

I read that the UFL has already invited him.

 

No, there are other exceptions with transfers and putting in for medical reasons to get additional years. I was simply talking about the career of Sorsby with a redshirt his true freshman season.

 

Yet he has never taken a single snap for them, unless I’m mistaken.

 

It's hard enough to know what year he gambled on his own team.

 

I don't know for sure, but I think the NFL may have responded better if he had consulted with the NFL before announcing the intent to enter a supplemental draft. I think the NFL would have been able to guide him to the appropriate steps they would want him to take before being given a clear path with the gambling already established and his own testimony that he has a gambling issue.

That's just a guess, but if he and his lawyer maybe approached it differently or maybe planned the move to the NFL as a contingency a month or so ago and did some probing and investigating what it entails and what would satisfy the league, some of this public announcement would have been avoided.

A trillion dollar business that revolves around legal betting needs to make sure that there is absolutely no signs of fixing games or inside information, or the simple fact that Sorsby has already placed bets on his own team. Red flags and alarms were going off the minute the name Sorsby and NFL were spoken at the same time.

 

My biggest head scratcher is why does this letter from the NFL keep bringing up the fact that Sorsby applied on June 16th, only 3 Days before the Deadline of June 22nd. Why is this a reason to Deny Sorsby's application? Why would the NFL even admit that Sorsby's team followed the rules setup by the NFL, and did in fact apply before the Deadline?

It seems crazy that the NFL is stating 3 days before the deadline, like it is a bad thing. It is BEFORE the NFL's Deadline that they have put in the CBA rules. Generally legal deadlines are hard dates, you can't really punish someone for coming CLOSE to the deadline. Funny, another reminder of my Speeding case where I was pulled over for going 60+ "approaching" a 45 zone.
