The way they keep changing the rules, who the hell knows any more?

Due to gambling market, there is so much public information available on games that I'm not sure what insider information would look like for a college athlete. Maybe undisclosed injuries of teammates?

If I’m correct that would require drafting him signing him and handing him a large bonus check.

And then trusting him to stay out of trouble for a year in the wilderness (and casino).

This is why I'd want to stay away from a 2nd round pick.

I think (but don't know) that the bonuses and guaranteed money fall off quickly after the 2nd round.

I'd imagine that he'd also get some special language in his contract related to off field stuff.

I know the rookie wage scale only really specifies the value of the contract. I also think I know that it doesn't specify how much of the money is guaranteed (each year this gets pushed deeper into the draft...but I think that's only by negotiation and not by rule). I don't know if signing bonuses are set by draft position.

Trinidad Chambliss will play a sixth season for Ole Miss in 2026 after the NCAA lost its appeal against his eligibility. The Mississippi Supreme Court ruled in his favor, allowing him to return due to medical issues in 2022.

You'll have to ask the judge. I can't keep up with these trials & tribulations. :confused1:

    Great call.

Players can ask to be in the sup draft. But the league has to approve.

Felt, I don't think the bolded part makes sense.

Judges are supposed to make decisions based on the law.

The PR issues that arise shouldn't come into play at all IMO.

I'm fine with the NFL's decision. But a simple "your last minute and self-induced situation is not our priority" response would have sufficed, minus the browbeating.

Either way this is going to be what you call a life lesson for young Mr. Sorsby. And undoubtedly good for him.

His lawyer is already on it

Brendan Sorsby's attorney, Jeffrey Kessler, tells ESPN of the NFL's decision to not hold a supplemental draft: "It is a violation of the CBA and the law. We will pursue this immediately with the NFLPA."
