So did I ....as an Eagle....almost all of them I didn't like their solo stuff....except Walsh....until later on . Then I loved it... I don't know why.

 

I'm the opposite. Never liked Joe Walsh.

I don't know. His voice just grates on my ears.

 

I like the story about Boys of Summer - written initially by Mike Campbell of the Heartbreakers but Petty didn't like it so he shared it with Don Henley who re-tweaked it and added more verses and the rest is history. One of the better travel songs IMO - "You got that top pulled down and radio on, Baby".

 

Love this song too but, for years, I thought he was saying, "After the poison summer is gone"

 

I went to see them for their "Hell Freezes Over" tour at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater and there was no warm up band and when the Eagles came out on stage, half the audience was still out in the parking lot getting doped up and they did California Hotel for the first song and half the eventual audience missed it. When they finished, Henley yelled out - "that's so all you f--kers don't keep screaming for Hotel California all through our concert!" Classic. Great show as well.
