is something going on with the o-line that we don't know? a lot of interest in the interior o-line lately. steelers depot was talking about this. it seems pounceys rehab is doing alright and foster has been signed to 3 years, yet we keep looking. i know wallace is getting up there in age and down to his last year but the guys we are bringing in don't seem to be run of the mill backups and not really centers.

DD is not signed past this year. he was a pro bowler. we have some other top guys to sign in the next couple of years. do we think we won't be able to sign him to what he will be worth on the open market?

why all this sudden interest in bringing in vet linemen this season as compared to well, the last 10?

I hope and think it's nothing more than building quality veteran depth. For Harris that's the likely scenario, to ensure that we have a left tackle capable player ready to step in.

Depth is important at every position including and most important the Oline, Decastro's upcoming contract is a routine negotiation since his market value is already established it's important to sign him to a fair market value before he becomes a free agent and other teams go after him and escalate a pricing war, I say sign him before game 1 of the regular season so we are able to keep him here and get his contract out of the way, I'm sure he wants to play here with the coaches and players he knows without going to a new team....

We've only added one guy and he was cheap. And they had a couple others in for a visit, but I haven't been signed yet. This isn't the first time they've brought guys in for a look.

Could be a combination of several factors. I think they realize they got lucky AV stepped up as well as he did with Beachum and Adams going down. They were familiar with Wallace due to Pouncey's previous injuries. But instead of bringing up Finney they got Legursky off the couch as vet depth.

Now Beachum is gone, Adams recovery is an unknown, Legursky can go back to the couch and Wallace isn't young (32 next year) plus has a penchant for penalties. A mixture of unknowns for protecting Ben.

Harris gives them 3 starter capable tackles. I think they may be looking at some more proven depth for the interior in case Pouncey has any setbacks or either of the guards gets injured. Schwartz has a well documented injury history so may have given them a reasonable price. Wisniewski is looking for his 3rd team and would be a younger upgrade to Wallace possibly.

I think this coupled with the fact that defense will be the priority early on in the draft, has them looking to fill the depth with some vets. Particularly ones they thought they could sign to reasonable contracts. Both Schwartz and Wis said they are not ready to accept back up roles but at least the FO was able to plant the seeds for later.

My guess would be who the Oline coach is says alot about this. Munch's words probably carry a LOT of meaning to the HC and GM.

Your probably right; just think back about 4 years ago and how our O-line used to be such a mess.

About that time, the Rooneys said they would address that issue. They have and apparently still are.

Now, they recently said that about pass defense.......

I soooo want to return the favor and have an O-lineman take out the back of his legs and end his season. The way he did Bell's.

Must not be very high on Wallace or Hubbard anymore. Wallace was pretty rough last season... It seems like keeping Ben upright and the offense stocked with weapons is the FO's strategy for us to win number 7. In all honesty it would be hard to disagree with that. Let's just hope we hit in the draft on some defensive prospects and see if we can't win this damn thing.

Trying to acquire depth for a Super Bowl run, they can't depend on Adams.

I don't think they plan on signing Pouncey again . They are looking at a lot of guys who can play Center/Guard, I think they are looking to replace him down the road..
