Like with most team sports, it's usually logical to spread the blame around. It's more fun to lay it on one guy, though.

I couldn't agree more. Than the biggest question is why don't we ever see it except once in a blue moon. The problem is our safeties don't play like other teams do. Troy is always around the LOS which drives me crazy. If we need him to stop the run and blitz we are in much deeper trouble than we think. Also Clark doesn't have a nose for the ball I get so sick of seeing him grab his helmet after a near pick cause he always goes for the big hit. Why does he act so surprised when he realizes he could of had the pick. He should be so used to it.

I have been wondering if the issue is that DL has been coaching them to go for the big hit instead of looking for the pick. Now, they are looking to make the big hit and avoid helmet-to-helmet hits. I've seen a difference in the way the defense tackles. They aim much lower, now. They used to hit players and dislodge the ball. Now, they seem a bit more hesitant.

So, maybe it's just because they practice for the hit, not the pick. DL always says, "Tackle the catch." And you hear that out of his defensive players, as well.

    Yeah, that and mends fumble...

I still think, if we jam them then maybe we get some turnovers? And we were lucky that a lot of passes were dropped or it would've been a blood bath. Again, had we jammed them they wouldn't of had so many dropped passes because we might have actually gotten to Rogers. The what ifs of history aren't being learned from here and that's been a huge and reoccurring problem for years with Lebeau. Other than that Pats game, seemed that he figured it out, but that was just one game. Why not mix it in 24/7?

The Steelers mixed up their defensive coverages vs the Packers in the SB. They played press sometimes and off sometimes. The problem was that the Packers 2nd, 3rd, and 4th WR's were better then the Steelers 2nd, 3rd, and 4th DB's. Nelson ran right by every player that covered him. Gay was in press technique when Nelson beat him for the first Packers TD. Gay was in pretty good coverage but the pass by Rodgers was to good.

I believe the defense mixes up coverages plenty. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't.

I'll agree with ya on mixing coverage schemes up... but playing 10 yards off their man the "majority" of the time and especially in short yardage situations ain't cutting it, hasn't been cutting it and will continue to not cut it.

jam sandwich! They should try it out A LOT!!!
