I’ve noticed that the noise at a few of these Loudest stadiums is way louder with the pumped in crowd noise than at other stadiums.

Sure seems to lend a little evidence that those stadiums pump in extra crowd noise.

As I say that, the Sunday Night crew states that they can only take the dB level to 70.

Hmmm, I wonder if they got a few questions about why it sounds so much louder?

Acoustics, microphone placement, audio mix, etc can have an effect on what you hear over the TV.

70dBs is measurable and enforceable. I don't think anyone is fudging there. (This season anyway. ;))

You're right that some stadiums sound louder than others on tv. Ray D points out some good reasons how that's possible.
I understand why they're using recorded crowd noise, but I don't like it. I'd rather hear the players communicating back and forth, especially pre-snap.
