Congrats all, the 2017 Steelers actually won 14 games and went on to have a home-field advantage throughout!

I kid, but great job making this decision. Also, this shows the Patriots indeed thought Jesse James scored the touchdown. :)

I really could care less. SO, what would have happened if we won that game? Nothing different; we lose in playoffs regardless. It just wouldn't have mattered. Our coaching staff is inferior.

They slay the dragon and it clears the spot that currently is occupied by it in their heads. Once that is accomplished the momentum carries them into the playoffs with a 1st Rd game against the Titans, different path different results.

We've seen it before: Beating the Pats in the regular season has never altered the outcome when it matters, in the playoffs. Even when we blew them out, and played them at home in the playoffs, it didn't matter at all, they still destroyed us in the postseason, circa 2004 season. Different coach, but still out-coached.

Yep they should just quit now. Can't lose if you don't play right?

Time to get over it guys. The way our defense was playing toward the end of the season. Tom Brady would of come back to Heinz Field and ripped us a new you know what, even if we had won that game. But, we are starting to become Raiders fans complaining that the Immaculate Reception was incomplete with this whole Jesse caught the ball.

On the plus side we get to play New England again this upcoming season, and we then play everyone in the AFC East in the 2019 season. So we get to play the Pats the next two years.

Yup, different result. We'd be hearing complaints how these guys could possibly lose a playoff game to a clod like Marcus Mariota. See Bortles, Blake; Tebow, Tim; Mc.Carron, AJ (had Burfict not come in to save the day).

I knew it was a catch all along. If Gronkowski makes that exact same play from Tom Brady in the same scenario it is a TD all day every day. Everyone knows that from Gooddell on down to the casual fan. Maybe it will be different next year but Vegas and the League will still flex their muscles given the opportunities.

Never know that's why they play the games. 2005 they were improbable road warriors when then safe money was on Indy and Denver. You never know.

Yeah while history could've been altered, had the catch stood and such would the D have held to close it out? Can't remember how much time was left. Either way... Had the one guy not threw to the other team in XXX or had Mendy not fumbled, or croissant fumble, or if they had drafted Marino... It never ends. Can't win em all, even when in those situations it was all doable.

Every team has a what if every game every season throughout franchise history. It's over, bring on 2018 and let's root for the best all over again!

It is officially the new rule since the owners approved it yesterday, the rules committee said they watched the JJ catch over and over again to base their findings since that was the one catch last year that had playoff implications for home field advantage and with all the controversy over whether it was a catch or not they agreed it was a catch and it helped in changing the rule, so jesse james, yes, you, the steelers, and the fans got robbed........

Nice straw man argument. Never said they shouldn't try, all I did was make a factual assertion.

No your fact was that nothing changes the outcome. If that is the case why even compete since the outcome will be the same. Isnthe that what you are saying? Nothing they do will change the outcome, different players, different coach, weather, venue, nothing will allow for a different outcome or is this not the just of your facts?

So many act like if JJ grab was ruled a catch, it would have changed the season. All I did was factually point out that last time we beat NE in regular season, and met in playoffs, at home, we still had our faces caved in. That was a factual historical reference.

Now you went on some hysterical strawman rant of things I never asserted.

What happens in that stadium if they confirm TD on the catch with time basically up?

The result from a previous season is barely relevant to what would happen under similar circumstances if they were to occur again.

Clearly, the most likely outcome would have been that the Steelers still come up short, but that wasn't even close to the sure thing you are making it out to be.
