Haven't we been through this same nonsense for 13 years? Whenever the team loses a game threads like this pop up like weeds. Some people like Tomlin, some hate him and some think he's fine. Bottom line is, it doesn't matter what we as fans think of him. Didn't matter 13 years ago, doesn't matter now. Unless you're a part owner of the team, give it a rest!

I only stated facts. MT has never had a losing season, is a superbowl champion and has a win percentage in the 60’s. Not sure how that puts balls in my mouth, but you’re the expert there so I’ll defer to you.

This - this is the only point in his career I had some sort of feeling I wanted him gone. That Jaguars loss brought me legit anger. When he went 8-8 with Mason Rudolph (an absolute statue in the pocket) and Duck Hodges (a literal undrafted DII QB) I quickly scrubbed that **** from my psyche

Don't change the players ... change the coaching staff. They're the ones that are not doing their jobs. As we lose great asst coaches ... we lose production and skill sets

Who has control over hiring and firing the coordinators? (Serious question)

I've already seen how he handles adversity over the last 3 weeks. How much more time do you need to figure this out? Everyone wants to fire RF because of how our offense has been performing. Well, who does he report to? MT must think he is doing a fine job because he is still doing the job. Or am I missing something taught about accountability in management/ leadership 101?

You seem to be giving him kudo's for getting where we are with issues that he is responsible for as HC?. Not having stars, aging OL, old QB risk, etc is a result of his plan as leader of the team. Not buying it. I wish these types of threads would just not happen until after the season is over as it is divisive and now isn't the time. Everyone knows what our situation is and multiple postings of the same things is beyond redundant.

I tend to agree with you, and Tomlin should be re-assigning play calling duties even if it isn't announced publicly. Given that, no head coach is going to get replaced with an 11-2 record unless he did something to embarrass the organization off the field.

Marty Shottenheimer was fired after a 14-2 season. Not sure what he did but it happened. Next coach start off 0-3. Sweet decision.

I am not saying Tomlin shouldn't be let go. I am saying that he should have the opportunity to finish the story of this season. I believe the problem is higher up than Tomlin. Art Rooney II does not have the visionary wisdom or foresight that his dad had. In 2004, Dan Rooney had a meeting with Cowher about what Steelers football should look like. Cowher re-emphasized the fundamentals and was fortunate Rooney made him draft a generational QB. Rooney II needs to have that same meeting with Tomlin, invite Roethlisberger if he has to and tell him his buddy will no longer be the OC. Rooney II needs to tell Tomlin, the Steelers will have a more balanced offense or else.

Do I think this will happen? No. I do believe the Steelers offseason is going to be interesting, because of all the free agents, coaching issues, and Roethlisberger's age, health, and limitations.

Well this is a discussion forum after all.

I'm as critical of Tomlin as anyone, but I can't imagine anyone wants him fired right now. You don't replace a head coach of an 11-2 team, no matter how bad things look. It's just not feasible. Even if there was a head coach out there who could do better, a new head coach comes with an all new system and typically all new coordinators. That's just not an option.

No matter what happens, I don't want Tomlin fired during this season. He's our guy for the rest of this season. With that said, if we don't have success in the playoffs this year, then why bring him back? Great, he hasn't had a losing season, but is that really the goal? Unless I'm mistaken, the goal is to win the Superbowl and he's not getting it done. We've had very little playoff success for a long time now, despite a ton of talent on the roster.

At some point, we have to acknowledge that regular season success isn't leading to playoff success.

Of course there's still time this season to find success, so we'll see what happens. I'm not too optimistic though.

I consider the talent to be more of a GM responsibility. The Steelers as an organization have prioritized the D over the O in recent years - largely because the D used to be the weak link. Who was the last offensive player taken with a first? DeCastro I think? That was ages ago.

The team has also had a run of bad luck with Bell getting obsessed about money, Brown self-destructing and Shazier's injury. Not to mention Bush and Dupree this year.

I think the overall goal was to build a contender before Ben's window was up. They just got there a year or two too late. That isn't anyone's fault really.

Because the Rooney's run this franchise like a conservative investment firm. As long as they have a winning regular season it puts butts in the seat (this year not withstanding) and makes $$$. So why risk that? No guts no glory.

Of course it's someone's fault. They've been trying to build a contender since 2010 and have failed to do so. With the talent we have had over the years, it's embarrassing we haven't had more success.

But he hasn’t had a losing season

But who else would we get that is better??

Same tired arguments from the same tired crowd.

If people don’t see him for the fraud he is by now they never will!

Here's something to consider. How many coaches who served under Tomlin have moved onto bigger and better positions? I honestly can't think of any. Arians didn't leave on good terms so I wouldn't count that one. Munch was a lateral move. Cowher on the other hand had more than I can remember.
That to me is a red flag. For what I'm not entirely sure. But most greats produce a coaching tree of some sort whether positive or negative.

F NO!!!! Last time I checked Mike Tomlin can't make a receiver hold on to a ball, can't make a running back find a hole, can't make the offensive line block, etc. etc. I understand a Coach makes decisions we might not agree with but last time I checked the PLAYERS have to make it work not the Coach.

Mike Tomlin is an above average Head Coach in the NFL.

The cynic in me sometimes questions whether that's the goal of the ownership. It's a business and, looking at it purely objectively, the goal is to make money. Even for the players making their $$$ generally takes precedence over winning.

At the end of the day, he's above average and there's no one out there that's clearly better. The owners are almost certainly not going to take a chance at this stage (by that I mean while we still have some core of talent... will be interesting to see what happens the season after Ben retires)

I get that. But after almost 10 years of seeing the same things over and over again and not being open to new ideas. It's just wasting everyone's time and that's not fair to the fans or the players (especially). I understand you can't win every year but when you're on the cusp and you keep coming up short...

Who is ultimately responsible for the performance of this team? Who allows running plays from shot gun? Who runs plays over and over on the goal line and can't get 1 yard in 5 tries instead of kicking a FG? Who is responsible for Redskins players saying they knew what plays we were running? Who allows dink and dunk offense that is predictable? Who keeps players in the game who drops passes, makes threats of not playing them, and doesn't follow through? Who keeps RF employed? I could go on for eternity. Which players do I put this on?

Bottom line, coaches have to orchestrate what the players do, develop, recognize, and discipline them, ensure they know what they're doing, putting them in positions to be successful, make pre game and in game adjustments, playing chess instead of checkers. Yes, players have to execute too but when the game is over, who is responsible for what happened or didn't happen and in front of the cameras? I think the Cheats won all those SB's with less talent on their team then what we fielded during those years and wonder how they did it.

Indeed. Take those loaded teams we had with Brown, Bell, Wallace, etc. Do I think a different coach would have had more success with that group than Tomlin? Hell yes I do. But we'll never know and ownership is too complacent to take that risk.

Im truly not sure where i stand on this but your thinking here is nothing short of dumb. Let me explain.

Just cause Tomlin has never had a losing season doesn't make him great. Just cause he has a 60% winning record doesn't make him great. You have to look at the talent and consider how many other first time head coaches could have won this much with this much talent. Yes you are correct we could bring other coaches and they could be terrible. A bad leader could find a way to ruin a talented roster like ours. Then again Freddie kitchens might have come in here and had Tomlins same record or better. Todd haley could have possibly did the same and maybe even Adam Gase could have done better (or worse). Who knows for sure. What we do know for sure is that Tomlin's teams are constantly not prepared for lesser teams. I don't know the ins and outs of why this is. I do know that never in Tomlins tenure have i seen a Steelers team that come sin an blows the crap teams out of the water like they should. I know i have heard more times than i can count that Tomlin isn't happy (going to unleash Hell) and accepts the blame and needs to get better but never does. How many times have we heard this from Tomlin and watch the team come out flat footed again? I dont know what the real reasons for this are. Maybe Mr Rooney Handcuffs Tomlin and makes him deal with things we do not know about (placating a diva like AB, Maybe Ben is more of a diva and than we know and refuses to put the work in, who knows). What i do know that during Tomlins Tenure this team has underperformed on a very constant basis. That much is fact. Where all the blame lies is another question.
