To win you have to score points effectively. We have not done that. I do not blame our CB play for the loss yesterday. We sold out to stop the run and dared Tebow to beat us with passing, and he did it, period. He threw perfect passes. Thoose complaining about not sacking him - the plan was to contain him and make him throw it. He typically is all over the place, but yesterday he was uncanny/lucky whatever and made beautiful passes.

The last play was a terrible defensive situational call, either Lebeau, Tomblin, or maybe Farrior really screwed up the call there. And Tottally selling out for a run with no safeties back was just stipid. Tayor played outside technique on that play, so I assume he thought there would be a safety to the inside.

If you want to get more turnovers, the offense needs to score more and be a constant threat to score -- the forces teams to take chances to keep up with you. That is why team like GB, NE, NO get turnovers, not because they have good defenses.

You are right. And I said this in another thread. The new defense is turnovers and splash plays. And the three teams you mention are key to the argument. They give up yardage/points but the takeaways seal the deal. Currently, the indicators for a good defense are antiquated compared to the architecture of the game and its rules.

For this reason, OL is more important than DB. Especially since we all know at least half of Ben's throws will require 7-10 seconds. :?

no matter how talented a corner is he will be at a disadvantage because of the new rules. It's pathetic but if the steelers want to compete in Godell's NFL they're going to hafto build this team to take advantage of the sissy rules IMO.
