I think they will try to win but if it is close 3th qtr. Watch the substitutions if they set the starters the fix is in

They were merging it with the other one.

While that is true remember how letting Cleveland beat us last year came back to haunt us.

To quote Herm Edwards, "Hello....you play to win the game." LOL.

I'm pretty sure that there is a whole "throwing the game" thing in there. Like get sued by bettors. Sued by the NFL and TV deals. Idk, potentially, there's way more to lose by tying than there is to at least try to win the game. The game can still end in a tie while both teams are trying to win, but that is super unlikely.

The way we showed up to play, we would have gotten curb stomped by whoever we played that night.

Edit: also, we didnt "let" them win. We played back ups and tried to win the game. Almost did.

Watching the game. It doesn’t look like these guys are playing for a tie.

Going for it with 4th and 2 instead of kicking a FG. Raiders are playing to win tonight

Wait weren’t them and the chargers just take knees until the game was over in a tie?

I feel like the Chargers are the more dangerous team. Thus, with the score 10-0, I would prefer the Chargers be up 10 because I have less faith in the Raiders to match the score. 45 minutes to go.

For John Madden, let's go Raiders!

This thread might end up on par with that “ Find three more wins” thread

I'm pulling for the Raiders- can't believe I wrote that sentence- because of Rich Bisaccia. As I mentioned on here when he got hired, his cousin is a chiropractor in my town whose 3 kids I taught a few years back. By all accounts a good guy who paid his dues and then some. However, if they do win, then I don't see them beating Cincy, whereas I feel New England probably could. Definitely want that Cincy playoff losing streak to continue!

Agree but I never thought the tie would be played for - but if it gets late and it's tied. It changes things. If I gets to overtime, a tie gets far more likely because at that point, not losing outweighs trying to win.

That is way way way pushing it. Nothing is on par with that . At least this could happen. The other was about not even getting 4 wins. LoL.
Who honestly thought we would get 4, or less wins?????

The original premise of this thread was suggesting that the two teams would conspire to fix the outcome of the game which is utterly ridiculous.

I agree, they weren't going to not play. But if this is a one score game midway thru the 4th quarter. Get me some tums.

Need to get it off of a score - something like 1, 4, 5, 9 or more late in the game.

I don't think either fan base would like that or take pride in that. I know I would be disgusted if we did that. Play to win even if your resting your starters.

Well, doesn't look like the outcome of this game will be decided by halftime. I'm pretty tired. But can't go to bed. Guess I'll just watch with my eyes closed for a bit.

If these teams do tie, the failure to make the playoffs is on Mason Rudolph!

Near the end of the game they were taking timeouts. Anyone see Ben go over to talk to the QB coach and the QBs? Mason was behind Dobbs and Haskins. So, he was the least in the discussion. But, at least he had his helmet on. He sure does like that helmet.
