and unless I'm overlooking a thread somewhere, I haven't seen any mention of the fact that the Steelers aren't reducing Wallace's tender amount. Apparently there was never any intention to do so whatsoever. I was hoping there would be some resolution by Friday, but apparently we're still going to have to wait a little longer.

Steelers won't reduce Mike Wallace's tender amount, want 'a long-term deal'

15th was meaningless.. the steelers said all along they were not going to reduce the tender and they didnt .. so the 15th meant absolutely nothing..

Yeah, apparently I missed the part about them having said that all along. I guess it was due to the media hype that was trying desperately to make it sound dire.

Why are they doing this? Is it a good faith effort?

The article that the link goes to quotes Colbert as saying (regarding reducing his tender):

"That's never been an intention of ours," Colbert said 105.9 The X's Mark Madden Thursday, per the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "When we tendered Mike at the amount we did, the compensation through that tender, we really had no issue with that whatsoever because he is deserving of that."

Bottom line...the guy deserves some $$$ but just not the Fitz money he is looking for. I believe the Steelers will get it done in the end and if they don't it will be on Wallace not the Steelers.
