Play your best athletes, simplify the D so they don't have to think so much out there.

 

I have been trying to watch for this more during the games. I do see the CBs playing off at times, but I've noticed the opposite CB playing at the LOS. For example Cockrell will be close to the LOS and Burns will be 8-10 yds deep on the same play. They are definitely mixing their alignments. I will definitely play closer attention this game.

I think RPO had a break down of plays that proved the 10 yards off thing was a myth for the most part.

 

I will try to pay more attention as well but it is very hard when you get so emotional, lol. I know for me anyways it feels like the negative stuff stands out more then the positive.

 

Hmm....I am not gonna call him a liar but I can't help what I see. I am not sure of the stats or anything but it feels to me that every play I watch we are off and playing the bend don't break style. I will have to try to pay more attention but I watch the game to enjoy it not stat it and my opinion is based on my memory. We all see things a different way that's what really makes a board like this fun cause you get to hear other peoples thoughts.

 

I have never before heard that mentioned.

Just from some quick tallys on the ****ty ass balt game....

2 CBs off LOS- 25 times but Burns interception and I counted bail technique in this tally
2 CBs on LOS - 6 but included Wallace TD
1 CB on LOS, 1 CB off w/ single high safety - 4
1 CB off LOS and other CB with empty side - 10 (100% of times with empty side)
1 CB on LOS, and other CB off. Safeties not visible - 8
Only 1 CB visible or neither visible - 5

I may have missed some as I started boozing early as you can imagine.....judge me IDK lol

playing off by both CBs - 25
mixed (one tight, one off) - 22
both up close to LOS - 6
undecided - 5

I counted CB with empty side as being on LOS since his coverage responsibilities would be limited...

bottom line, they seem to play some pecentages the coaching staff seems to favor and personnel matchups. but I don't think the 2 CBs playing off is the standard.. It seemed to be a mix imo.

 

Thanks Turtle, I noticed right off the bat we were right up on the LOS just like someone here said they heard was gonna happen. I have no idea what it was but the D looked so much better to me today. If the D plays like this the rest of the season I will be happy, is there room for improvement hell yeah but I was pretty hard on this defense so far and I will give them credit when they look/play well.

 

thanks for this. I thought the defense played well enough. made some adjustments to stop the run after first few possessions. I did like what I seen from burns and if he was playin with a safety worth a sh^$ the Wallace play wouldn't have looked so bad

can't stand Mitchell tbh. Never liked that pick up. Plays with his emotions and not with his head which equals liability. Plus his speed never has equaled him getting over to deep sideline throws.
