We do run a similar type of O except ours is a East to West coast offense

doesn't work with Ben, he doesn't have the timing/precision that's required. At least not consistently enough

I think he meant the steelers run east to west on the field rather than going down field.

    Yup.

Rodgers is a damn good QB, who just so happens to play in a very friendly system. Recipe for terror for the rest of the league. GB just earned themselves another 2nd or 3rd round pick by having a competent backup QB and a top-notch offensive system. Flynn was valuable before this performance; this effort just made his value skyrocket.[/quote:25nfpjuo]

This has always been my knock on Tom Brady, as well.

I disagree. Brady is overrated and benefits from the system. Indeed, Brady is an intelligent QB who can read defenses as well as anyone. But in my 40 years of watching the NFL, there are few QBs that I have who is so unbelievably shielded from a pass rush like Brady. The man spends less time on his back than any of the other all-time greats. Aikman and Montana benefitted in similar manner.

rodgers is that good.................. and so is flynn........... i'm sure a few qb starved teams may give the packers a high rd. pick for flynn if they don't get their qb of the future in the draft.

I think in the NFL it's the luck of the draw. Aaron Rodgers could have gotten drafted by the Rams. If that were to happen, he would have been an ok QB who loses a ton of games and never gets the spotlight. Playing with the right organization is key in the NFL. Most of these guys are huge talents, but if you go to a team that doesn't have a great system, the ability to utilize all your skills is then minimized. Look at Emmitt Smith for example. In the early 90s the Cowboys had probably the best offensive line of all time. They would blow holes a semi could drive through. Had Emmitt played for a team like Tampa Bay back then you wouldn't even remember who he was right now. Barry Sanders now is one of the few who could do it on his own, but in the big scheme of things, the organization and the way they draw things up and the talent around you is the key. Aaron Rodgers got very lucky to be in the system he is. Yes, I do think he is a great qb, but I think if Ben was able to play in that system with the type of offense they run, his numbers would be all that and maybe even better. I think Matt Flynn was a perfect example of how great their system really is. Luck in where you get drafted in the NFL is the main key to success and how much money you will make as a pro. Just like being an LB in Pittsburgh, most of these guys that leave Pittsburgh become half the LB's they were here.

They are both good QB'S ,but neither are that much better than Ben esp. Flynn.......The reason they look so much better is how the Team is built and how they call the plays...
Just like I have always said the PA pass is a huge help to a system, using RB'S and TE'S in the passing game also is a huge help esp. in the Redzone.....To cap this off they have the right types of WR'S some with pure speed and others of a pure physical nature....This allows them to create mismatches they get the speed guys on CB'S who give cushions and they get their physical guys on press guys......And after that they use PA to keep help from coming.....Rogers is ranked #1 in the NFL followed by our Big Ben ......Also they are ranked like 27th. in running and we are ranked 18th. or so I believe.....

The reason those stats are truthful and telling in pointing out the end results .....Rogers has 80 more PA attempts than Ben and the Steelers have the better running attack.....We should have 80 or so more PA attempts than them and if we did use PA 10 more times a game then we would score the ball like they do and our record would look very similar to theres.....

So I tried to just lay out some facts without Bashing ,but they have a better scheme and we have the better Team.....I have no doubt if we had their scheme we could not be stoped......

You didn't really lay out facts at all, you laid out your opinion. You can't say "If we use system x then we would have much better results." That's not a fact, even if it seems like it could be.

Forget about Flynn, I'm not comparing him as I haven't seem him play much and stats can be misleading, but Ben isn't anywhere close to Brees or Rodgers. Everyone keeps talking about the offensive line differences, but Rodgers has never had a good offensive line. His first year, the Oline was worse than ours. Last year was better, but they were still subpar. This year they're almost as bad as ours is, if not worse. Rodgers makes them look much better than they are due to how fast he gets the ball out and how elusive he is. He doesn't scramble the same way Ben does, although he can if he wants as he's a pretty good runner. Rodgers slides around in the pocket while keeping his eyes down field.

The fact is that the only way to compare them is to look at the numbers AND watch their play. Give Ben the 2nd worst defence in the league like GB has and we aren't a playoff team. Ben misses wide open receivers on a regular basis, Rodgers rarely misses WR's in tight coverage. Ben isn't very accurate when throwing 40+ yards down field, Rodgers is deadly accurate 50+ yards down field.

Rodgers and Brees don't make the idiotic mistakes that Ben does on a regular basis, nor do they make their Olines look even worse than they are. They also definitely don't take stupid sacks to take their team out of field goal position, which I've seen Ben do 10 times or so over the years. I would gladly take Rodgers or Brees over Ben.

In my view, Rodgers has the potential to become the best QB to ever play the game. I think his achievements could upstage Montana's. For me, it's about 2 things: 1) his decision making is fantastic. He almost always finds the right guy quickly, and exploits the mismatches. 2) his accuracy 20+ yards downfield is amazing. He can consistently fit the football into a trash can sized opening 20+ yards downfield, whether in the pocket or running. Some of the windows that he fit the ball into in the SB were pretty small.
