Not very optimistic due to the first team's performance against the Bills.

At one point into the third quarter, our running backs were a combined 20 carries for 25 yards--ugly. Conversely, we couldn't stop their running game--Jackson and Choice were a combined 14 carries for 84 (6ypc). If we can't perform better than this in these two categories, I think it's going to be a very disappointing season. Hopefully it was just a very bad performance and not indicative of what lies ahead.

    Go Steelers!

I too was very excited about this year's prospects coming out of the draft, when it seemed possible that the first 3 picks could all be contributing starters this season. Now, it seems very likely that the team's rookie of the year will turn out to be Chris Rainey.
I have been a fan since 1972, and experience tells me that it takes at least a few weeks of real regular season games to get a true feel of where the season is going.
A few predictions- the offense will be better this year than last year, and the defense will not be quite as good as last year. The team will finish stronger than it starts. Cincinnati will be better than Baltimore. And, to go out on a bit of a limb here- I predict that all 4 RB- Rainey, Dwyer, Mendy, and Redman, each finish the season with 400-500 yards rushing, as the team goes to a RB by committee for one reason or another.

BLA BLA I'm ready and pumped! We need to start off with a win and we will! Screw the Broncos and anyone else we face. It's been almost nine months since we took the field. Injured and depleated we went home to lick our wounds last year and now is the time. Release Woodley, Harrison and Timmons to bring Manning down. I think a reminder of how the ground feels, like what Joey Porter gave Payton is in order. I don't want him injured just sacked; ALOT!

Good observation Spider man, I think I have told you this before,
but I am getting old, and thats what us locals PGH and sourrounding areas use to call your namesake.
Spider man made huge contibutions to the teams of the 70's he was very well liked locally. Of course
as a kid growing up we loved everything about all the PGH Steelers of that era.Greatest team EVER assembled.
