Butler was a LB coach for close to 15 years or so with the Steelers, he developed some good LBs Farrior, Harrison, Woodley, Timmons so he gets credit for that. That other poster just trying to discredit Butler as a LB coach, maybe because he doesn't like him as a DC.

Keith butler was a LB coach from 2003-2014 and DL was the DC from 2004-2014. Like I said I am not saying he was a bad LB coach but he had a stud to help him in DL.

And Butler got promoted to DC based on his track record of doing a good job with the LBs .

Well if you want to give credit to Butler for the LB's when DL was here then I guess you have to give Butler the blame for the failure when he is not. DL might have been the smartest defensive coach around and that has to be taken into account when looking at these LB's he coached. Butler didn't make the calls DL did and Butler also learn from DL.

As much as I blame scheme for the failure we are having now I also credit scheme for the success we had back then.

So then does DL get the blame for the failure of the DBs developing back then also?

Dick Lebeau's coaching greatness is often exaggerated if you look at the stats throughout the years. Don't get me wrong he's a great guy and players love him but he's become a bit of a Chuck Norris around here if you get what I'm saying :hehehe:
