I don't understand why Sly hasn't been able to make the leap. His college highlight reel is full of what seems like plays he should be capable of at the pro level. But watching him on the field now, he just seems to get pushed around and sometimes appears to be running around with no real idea of what to do.

Yes I mentioned Brady...as a way of saying...sometimes NFL people are just flat wrong on a guy. I also then said Brandon Browner is probably a better comparison.

As to how often that happens....about 50 times a year...thats roughly the number of new UDFA that make the NFL every year.

The NFL guys just get it wrong sometimes....Even dare I say it....THE STEELERS.....teams miss out on James Harrison and Willie Parker, and Dan Kreider...because they are drafting Troy Edwards and Jermaine Stephens.

and again...google is your friend...find me one off the field issue with Burfict? (not pot related)

Again...the whole point of this is that Burfict, Moch, and even Micah Johnson (who is also working at DE) would be upgrades over Sly...you can not like to hear it if you like...but in the battle of backup LB's...SLY has been weighed, measured, and found lacking.

i didn't think it was a terrible showing for him. they have been playing him out of position in camp too. thats learning another new spot before you learn the one that your supposed to. we saw how that hurt timmons last year. sly didn't have that offseason chance to get better last year, but he learned to be a good special teamer. that hurt him in his development, i don't care. it took timmons 3 years to win a starting job and he had offseason coaching and conditioning and was a first rounder.

I don't think Sly lit it on fire Thursday night, but I don't think he was downright terrible either. I thought he put himself in the proper position most of the time, he just couldn't finish at all. In all honesty though, do people have THAT high of expectations for him? He was always a backup kind of guy to me anyways.

I think Sean Spence is a better option to be the long-term starter next to Timmons anyways compared to Sly. In saying that, I have no problem taking an ILB high in next year's draft if Spence isn't the answer.

But yes, I would have used a 7th round pick on Burfict. I would agree with Hack that yes, sometimes 32 teams DO get it wrong. Correction - its not just sometimes, its actually often.

I never liked basing personnel decisions on what the Bengals think.

But we get that all the time here. "The Browns passed on him, why would we draft him??"

I'm gonna agree with Hack. I am really frustrated and P.Oed with Sly and Jason Worilds. Sly, I'm not impressed. Worlids, who, this guy has been hurt since OTA's and through mini camp, and now training camp, whats the problem? First of all, he was not that great to earn all this respect while on the PUP! When is he gonna be ready, and should he automatically earn a spot on the 53 man roster without even showing that he should be on the roster while missing OTA's, mini camp, and training camp?

I don't know. This is their third year and neither one of them has set the league on fire. Sly should have been a terror against the Eagles. He did nothing. Worilds is not Lamar Woodley of James Harrison, so what are the Steelers waiting for.

Also what are the other LB's doing in camp. Has any of them did anything to stand out? I thought I heard something about Carter gaining weight and showing a little, but whats sup with the other guys. I did see the LB that they sign from the Bengals make a couple of plays in the Eagles game, but Sly, nothing!

I'm waiting on Spence to show me something in the next game. I will be happy if he shows up this year. I'm rooting for him to start along side Timmons. I'm not impress with Foote!
