Further confirms what a great year Cortez Allen had.

Very good read. We have a tough road ahead of us, but I believe we will be fine, maybe not Super Bowl fine though. As long as we have Big Ben and Dick LeBeau I think we have a chance at 10 wins.

Fair assessment, but I feel we return to the playpffs next season.... no, we're not super bowl contenders as it stands right now, but after next season, we will reload (especially with high comp. Picks we're sure to get).....we're looking at a 2 yr. Window to return to greatness imho.

I disagree on the "we're not super bowl contenders as it stands right now" take.

Not because I think we're solid, but because I don't think anybody else is. A very average Rats team won it all last year. A team we beat on the road with Charlie Batch at qb. A team that was thirty seconds away from having their season finished in Denver.

I think with so much parity, anybody can win it next year. No one team stands out as being unbeatable like teams in the past.

Are New England, Denver, Houston, Baltimore, Indianapolis or Cincinnati that much better than us? Are ANY of them clearly better than us? Pats seem to be fading, Peyton isn't getting any younger or healthier, Schaub doesn't scare me, Baltimore has cap problems and presumably has lost their killer instinct, Indy and Cincy seem to be emerging -- but not quite there yet.

    Why not us?

i saw that too jack. alot of his time was from the nickle though, and i don't feel near as good about brown as the nickle. maybe that's where the justin king aquisition comes in.

ike? lewis? allen, king, brown, vandyke. interesting group there. is there a safety amongst them to go with golden, troy and clark? do we bring ike and lewis back at all or make cb/s our first two or three picks?

Interesting take on things, and totally true..... I'm old school though and would much rather see the times when we were dominant and feared rather than rely on the any given sunday cliche'
