apple seems to be the guy we are looking at in the first. I have looked at him and I still think alexander is better but its spitting hairs. they are both good and apple does seem to fit our system better.

I think this draft has to be homeruns with first 4 picks. we cant miss because I think they will be defense and we need depth as well as some starters.

rd 1 eli apple cb ohio st

    rd2 su'a cravens lb/s usc

    rd3 shawn oakman de Baylor

    rd4 cyrus jones cb Alabama

rd6 trae elston s ole miss

    rd7 avery young ot auburn

    rd7 keenan Reynolds rb navy

sorry steel, not liking this one from top to bottom. Cravens is just an easy reach comparison to Polamalu based on college and background. I don't see it on tape. Oakman is a physical freak but not a football player. C. Jones I do like as a returner for added bonus. A safety is needed more than CB imo and I just don't think Cravens is the answer.

I could live with this draft. CB and S are our two biggest needs IMO.

I don't like this draft either. We can do better after the first pick.

I could live with this as well, first 4 picks I like, don't know the last 3 guys.

1st two picks address big needs, Su'a would be a great fit for our sub packages. Oakman is a bit of a risk but at 3, I dont mind, guy is a physical specimen.

Do u like apple? I know oakman is a big ? But if he can ever live up to potential. ...damn
I will say this. Jones and Elston are ball players. Both would see playing time this year

What makes everyone think apple will be on the board at 25? A whole lot of teams need corners in this draft, the steelers might just as well plan on trading up to get him if they want him bad enough, that is if they want a bite of the apple......:lolol:

I am lukewarm on Apple. Need to watch some more games to be honest. I do like Cyrus Jones in the 4th along with some other CBs who could be available.

Oakman looks like a marvel comic superhero you're right, but that works against him too. 6'8" will be a tough go of it trying to get leverage. Limited arsenal of moves. Not worth a 3rd imo when compared to other players who could be there.

i agree he might not but I have seen very few mocks with him going higher and even then its just a spot or 2. I have seen some with him in the early 2nd. its a crap shoot for sure. some team may like him more that ramsey or the kid from florida. I have just seen him linked to us a lot.

I watched a couple of Oakman's games a month or two ago, and the impression that popped into my mind is that he may not really have a passion for football, but plays it because it suits his physical tools and can be a means to a nice paycheck. I have no idea what's really going on with him, but that's the impression that I got. He seems to go through the motions.

I looked at the top need list and about 6 teams picking in front of us have a top need at corner, and most teams that dont have a top need at corner have other needs listed as corner, I think the demand at corner this year is going to have the top 5 corners going in the first round at least the top 3 and who knows if teams will reach for a corner in the first round, I cant see us trading up to get one, but I also don't see the top 3 or 4 still on the board after 24 in the first round.....

I think the only two teams ahead of us with cornerback being the top two need are the charger and raiders. With that said, that translate to me to be Ramsey and Apple being picked respectively.

i think we are looking at jackson3, fuller, burns as the guys being available to us at 25 as far as corners. i think apple, alexander, hargraves and ramesey are gone by 25.

The list I just looked at, had dallas, jags, tampa and dolphins listed corner as their top need, and about 8 teams have corner listed as a need, unless dallas takes a QB at 4 they could draft the top corner at 4 or trade back to 8 or 10 get an extra 2 pick and get their corner, the jags are picking at 5 and will almost surely draft a corner the same with tampa picking at 9, the dolphins at 13 could go another way to get their corner in the first round or go linebacker at 1 and get their corner in the second round, the seahawks at 26 top need corner, could trade up a few spots to scoop the steelers for a corner, and the ravens are in that mix for a corner at number 6, if there is an early run on corners it could be slim pickings the rest of the draft.....

I looked into that as well. But I only started after the top 10 AND I assumed Ramseay and Hargreaves would be gone in those 10 picks. With Oakland signing Sean Smith, I thought only Miami and Washington had top needs at CB. I think 2 out of the 3 of Apple, Alexander, WJIII will be there. So tough to tell though, if a team loves a player they'll definitely go for him even if CB isn't there top need.

Exactly right, predicting a draft is next to impossible, but with the hawks picking at 26 if a top 3 corner is there the hawks will scoop us to get him, I expect that to happen, and I think this prediction that derrick henry wont be drafted untill the second round is off the mark, he will go in the first round late most likely to the packers at 27 since lacy was a big dissappointment last year and mcCarthy likes big backs, a monster like henry doesnt come along that often not to intrigue a couple of teams to grab him when he's on their board late............

Seattle could jump us for a CB and I'm sure Cincy would love to give them that spot right in front of us. Or Seattle could stay and go offensive line.

On Henry, I was just going to type how I thought New England would love to get him with Blount and Dillon being big backs for them in the past. But then I remembered they don't have a first lol! small victories...

I think your right, will the Steelers move in the 2nd to get a much needed safety?

i think it depends on how it plays out. we should come out of the first 4 rounds with a corner, safety and edge rusher.

Steel, I like this draft, I know nothing about Elston and Young. However there has been a lot of talk about Apple and if he is still there I wouldn't mind the pick
Cravens I am lukewarm about and in the 2nd I feel we could do better and would like to see DT here but would live with this pick.
Oakman impressed me during the sr bowl so I like that pick.
Cyrus Jones has looked good and as said already is a return candidate.
Reynolds, now here is the one I like and nobody really has talked much about him. I think he is a work in progress but what a nice trick play option for this already hard to stop offense.

All in all we are never going to like every pick in every mock or heck even in the real thing by our Steelers. The only problem I have is this is a very deep draft at DT and I think we need one somewhere, jmo. Nice job I wouldn't be unhappy with this draft, of course throw in a Higbee or Miller and I would love it.....lol!
