How is Zeise statements caving into Bell? He wants a long term contract which would be stupid to do. Tag him and Let him sit out or if someone offers him more take the 1st round pick.

Bell wants to be paid as a #1 rb and #2 wr. While he is a very good rb he’s not worth the money he’s looking for. No team is going to give up two #1 picks for him. It’s pure fantasy on the writers part. The best we can do is a 3rd round comp pick when he leaves via free agency. Bell’s best shot at a long term contract was last season, but he screwed the pooch by killing the deal his agent worked out for him. He’s been suspended twice, injured 2-3 times, and assuming reports are true quite a selfish player. He can be another team’s headache in 2018.

I say let Bell go into FA. He's not worth the drama and all of the whining he will do, once the franchise tag is in place. Steelers can get a good RB in the draft in rounds 3-7. Steelers need some young kid at RB who is hungry and has a lot to prove. Conner and draft pick will be good enough, IMO. Just hope Conner can stay healthy.

I’m honestly not a huge fan of Bell. His so called patience is getting old. There are times it works and times when he really just needs to slam the ball up the middle and quit tiptoeing around in the backfield. I would trade Bell for Elliot or Kamara in a heartbeat if it was an option.

Agree. RB is one position that teams can strike gold in the later rounds of the draft. Hopefully the Steelers roll the dice and get a good RB. Defense needs to be priority, but I wouldn't complain if they drafted an RB in round 3.

I think some of us are really under valuing Bell's ability. He can play any skill position on offense and he can pass block for Ben. He is a threat anywhere on the field and he makes teams pay attention to him which opens up others. I stand by the fact that I don't think Bell (or any RB for that matter) is worth the long term money he is asking, but I would hate to see him walk to another team especially a AFC North team.

Again, tag him and if someone wants to pay for him then let him go for 2 First Rounders, otherwise lets get one more year out of him and pray it gets us to "7"!!!

I'm not exactly a Bell fan but either pay the man or let him walk.

Agreed. I dont like his attitude all the time but hes the best back in football, Im not going to downplay that.

I would like to see him score more TD's but thats an overall team problem in the redzone. 2000 all purpose yards is pretty incredible though.

If I'm Colbert, I'm holding two phones up to my head with Bell's agent in one and Dave Gettlemen in the other. Negotiate a long term deal with Bell that meets the Giants approval. Get the signature, then trade for their second round pick and third. Offense has the horses to compensate if they spend a premium pick on a RB this draft. $15 mil cures a lot of defensive woes.

Bell would be a huge loss no doubt, but its tough to hamstring the whole team with a type of contract that Bell is looking for. Especially when he just said at the pro bowl interview "I'm not going to settle".

Colbert will have to decide how lopsided he wants the team constructed financially, but maybe that's not a concern to him idk.

    Sign and trade Bell
    Sign S Tre Boston
    Re-sign Haden
    Sign FA ILB
Draft 1(28), 2(34) and 2(60) on Safety, LB, RB (Guice, Chubb, Michel many options there) whichever is slotted how they like it.

Won't be popular but would stregthen the team overall imo.

Either way we will have to alot money for him. It will tie our hands waiting on him and keeping us from being a player in free agency not knowing if he'll play or not on the tag. We are not near as good on offense without him. Trade he and Dupree for the top pick? Grab Barkley? That would be an extreme move. We don't have too much under contract otherwise. A very tough situation we are in. This was the year we needed to win it and we blew it.

This is the type of pro activity we need from the Steelers front office.
