I say if we did Pickett might throw to him more. But what about Pickens?

No. I think we have a solid WR room with Johnson, Pickens, Sims, and a healthy Austin.

We need an OT and ILB above all else, IMHO.

You're not a newbie, so you know draft related questions belong in the Bill Nunn Draft Room. And no, we shouldn't.

I’m all for adding another stud receiver. Johnson is on the last year of his contract and Austin was set back a year in his development and still don’t know how he will do.

I haven’t started my draft research yet so I have to circle back to Addison.

I’m going to move your thread over to the Bill Nunn Draft Room, lots of good discussion for the draft over there.

Pro- It could be another Joe Burrow to Jamar Chase connection....

Con- It could be Mason Rudolph and James Washington connection.....

I think it could be good for Kenny.... but we have so many needs in many places. Don't think we have a luxury taking a WR in the 1st round or the High 2nd. Which where Addison may go.

Hard for me to imagine it being as good as Burrow and Chase.. only because look how high both were drafted high pedigree guys Burrow 1st overall and Chase was like the 4th or 5th overall selection the next year.

But it could be good, you can see what the Bengals do they have 3 really good WR's its a throwing league, you can see Buffalo with Gabe Davis and Diggs, if you have many dominiate guys you can't cover them all....

Their are so many needs on this team outside of Wr. If We could get Him outside of the 3rd ....I would think about it, but I dang sure wouldn't think about any Wrs in the first 3 rounds.

Addison will definitely go in the first round as he is ranked #2 WR behind the TCU receiver. Even though we have a lot more pressing needs, he is really good. He was the best WR in the nation in 2021 with Pickett throwing the ball to him.

Whos this years Pickens? Anyone with a late season injury that could drop?

I’ll predict it right now though, with two second rd picks, they will use the second one on a WR.

They always could use a pick on a WR. Especially with only 2 proven commodities at WR and one of those commodities being only on the books through the 24 season (DJ). Addison would be cool if we found a way to add an OL/CB/ILB or all 3 in FA. It would be a bit of a luxury, but if we stockpile weapons for Pickett in attempt to get him over the top it wouldn’t be the worst idea.

I could see it happening if he’s bpa. However, we don’t know what a khan draft will look like. We have new scouts, new gm, and a new assistant gm. May can’t get here soon enough.

We need a solid #3 WR to battle Austin and Sims in camp next year.

DJ is not a free agent until 2025.

Correct. I may have been thinking about that they can get out of his contract and save 12 million after 2023.

Regardless, I think they draft one. They have DJ and Pickens locked in and then Sims, Gunner and Austin.

Addison is an excellent player, though he dropped off a little bit at USC, and Pickett certainly seems to trust him. He's not Chase. He's just not on that level, but yes, he could be a great addition to the offense. I think he would help create more big plays due to his own skills and the trust Pickett has in him.

All of that said, they just have too many bigger needs to make it happen. I doubt he would even fall to pick No. 32, so it just doesn't seem realistic.

I think yinz are overrating Sims and others. Austin is the only one I really see jumping into thar #3 role and there's no guarantee he will. He seems to have the work ethic at least. I do agree with the others that there are other big time needs: CB, LB, DL, OL.

I'd like to see the Steelers draft Picketts other teammate in Jared Wayne. Probably a guy that'll be around in the 4th or 5th round. Just because we don't have a 5th today, doesn't mean we can't draft into that round on draft day. Wayne would give the Steelers a nice slot reciever and has chemistry with Pickett. Could also be a James Washington scenario potentially as well. I personally would prefer to bring in a vet to help these guys.

FA will clear a lot of this up.

I agree. While Sims showed that is an alright receiver and probably should be on the roster as the WR5 that returns punts and kicks, he didn't show that he is capable of being a full-time option at the slot. Olszewski should get cut if he isn't going to be the return man. Boykin is a ST'er and not really much more. Austin will basically be a juiced up rookie. While he does have the talent to take that position, whether or not he does is up in the air.

There is always the chance that we go with a WR somewhat early (we tend to do well drafting the position), but I wouldn't rule out bringing a veteran in to fill that role as well. An insurance policy so to speak. A Jarvis Landry, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Sammy Watkins type that can be a mentor to the bevy of young talent we have. Juju might have other offers out there that would guarantee him a WR2 or WR3 role that we might not be able to promise him, so Landry and Watkins might be better fits, but you never know.

Smith-Schuster isn't going anywhere without getting a starting job. That means taking snaps from Johnson and Pickens. I think he would be a great fit, but he's probably going to be too expensive. Landry seems like the best idea, but who knows if they are willing to spend some money on a free agent receiver.

Wayne was inconsistent in his final year at Pitt. He had some big drops, including an easy touchdown late in the bowl game against UCLA that opened the door for the crazy finish.

I believe JuJu closed the door on a Steelers return when he said he learned more in one training camp with KC than he did in 5 years with Pittsburgh. He isn't lying, but sometimes you need to keep the truth to yourself, show a little class, and not say something for social media clicks.

I think those things are overlooked. Just saying complimentary things of your new organization is pretty normal and I don't think Tomlin would take that as a personal shot or anything. I doubt a bridge has been burned over it. JuJu is a super well liked kid in the locker room. I wouldn't bet on us actually signing him, but I don't think he's someone we would actively stay away from.

I was in the Yes side coz I think he is going to be special. But I have since cooled.

    1) I want Skoronski or Broderick Jones, if both are gone
    2) trade back and get a nother 2nd Rd pock (Preferably with the Giants)
    3) a top DLman
    4) A top corner
    5) Addison

I put corner so low because I think 1 to 4 of the top 8 will be there at 32, if not 49.
