Polamalu led that defense. We have Watt now. :towel:

1998-2000 were years of hell. We lost tons of good UFAs during that span... most of them went to division rivals. However, we did draft pretty good during that time.... Faneca, Ward, Townsend, A. Smith, Porter, M. Smith, Haggans and Burress.

I just edited my post to include that. Steelers drafted excellent during those pre-Heinz Field years.

My biggest gripe with Tomlin is some of his draft choices. In hindsight to be fair.

Cowher was 52-1? Pretty incredible if so, yes a different era but great defense and the Bus will get you that kind of record. I was on a site recently and there was an argument on who should not be in Canton, a couple of people wrote Bettis. I did not even respond, I do not argue on the net...especially with idiots, who are obviously Browns fans.

    Cowher was something like 102-1
Tomlin was 52-1 as of Oct. 2015

    Having the bus helped
    Having Ben ???

Edit: not slamming on Ben. He is my 2nd favorite Steeler player.

    Hey Vox.

Bettis HOF. Really? Do not let anyone tell you that "stupidity" is a myth. Again, Bettis HOF. Wow!

One of the worst I've ever seen. And there's been some bad ones.

Atlanta for me is the worst to date; possibly ever. Then again, that is Atlanta Sports overall anyway. Why I had ANY HOPE that day that New England would lose to Atltana and for the Falcoons to break the curse is truly something I still have not the foggiest.

    2008 Steelers
1st in points allowed by defense
1st in passing yards allowed by defense

2009 Steelers without Polamalu (11 games) & Aaron Smith (11 games)
    12th in points allowed
    16th in passing yards allowed

Also the last year A. Smith was actually making plays on the left side.

Just being pendantic Heinz. You peaked my interest into what happened that year.

The Raider game showcased D. Dixon filling in for a concussed Ben & an injured Batch.

The 13 to 6 loss to the 1-11 Browns that season was probably the worst performance I've ever seen by Steelers.

Thnx. That game looks really ugly. The worst one under Tomlin I remember is the AFCCG against the Patriots.

I do watch the Steeler games but haven't had NFL ticket since 2016. I have wondered if you keep your recorded Steelers games in a library or if you delete them when you are done with them.

    Here's a tidbit -
The Steelers have failed to make the playoffs the year after their last 3 SB wins.

Wouldn't mind if that last comment changed to Steelers failed to make playoffs the year after last 4 SB wins.

I remember after we got # 4 I walked around with a shirt that said, "One For The Thumb in 81." I had shirt for about 4-5 years and guys I worked with would scratch out 81 and put 82 and on and on.

And here's another tidbit.....every time the Steelers have failed to make the playoffs in the last 13 years, Tomlin has been the HC.

What are you going on about Stone?
If Tomlin doesn't make the playoffs this year it will be 3 years running?

I agree with all of this. Losing Nick Chubb definitely hurts the Browns. He is on IR with an MCL sprain, though he is expected back this season. Hunt is a hell of a replacement, but the Browns seemed to be doing a good job of using both, so that will slow them down a little. Their defense really isn't very good at all.

But it won't be his fault, it will be the players fault;)

There are some folks in Arizona that would beg to differ.
