They played Mahomes in 2018, and he lit them up.

Browns are going well and are running the ball very effectively, exactly what we all thought they would do. They scored 49 points on the Cowboys without Mayfield having to do much of anything. That said, the Cowboys are a mess, their defence is appalling in particular. Ceedee Lamb looks great but he was a real luxury pick in the first round when they had gaping holes at safety and corner, and now all their linebackers are injured. They should have traded back and boosted their secondary.

I expect the Browns to get to 8-10 wins. The series with the Steelers will have a big bearing on the division, Steelers need to sweep them or at the very least split the series, same with the Ravens. Nick Chubb is out for the first meeting at Heinz field as he is on IR which is not ideal for the Browns. I am cautiously optimistic for that game.

Browns run into problems when having to rely on Mayfield. Their defense is not great but are creating turnovers. Week 17 may be huge.

The Browns will be the Browns until they are not, a few games don't change that.

The Bengals will be the Bengals until they are not, one player doesn't change that.

Get in that giant head of Lamar Jackson and the Ravens are very beatable.

Steelers will need a defensive or special teams TD to pull this one out, IMO. I have a feeling the offense will come out flat because of the bye. It's pretty much a given now the offense will hibernate for at least a quarter in the game.

Agree with this. Ravens/Steelers games are always a crap shoot anyway... doesn't matter who is good or who is bad. Steelers beat the Ravens with elderly Batch at QB back in 2012....priceless. Ravens won the Super Bowl that year, I think.

You get the record to get into the playoffs by preparing each week and concerning yourself with your next opponent and yourself. I'm glad you never coached.

steelersrule6: okay team, we've got a big game coming up this week so let's go over our record a few more times. Some of you keep getting that wrong. If you don't know our record, we'll NEVER make the playoffs!!

Just stop with the nonsense already. We get it. You've never played sports, let alone coached. Intramurals and pickup games with the seniors at the Y don't count.

Your record is window dressing. What matters is what you put on the field.

This defense has been there when the offense is bad. Even when it's really bad. I like Ben's chances when the defense can hold their own.
Tomlin is 5-3 against the qb whisperer fat Andy. Most wins for each coach are on their home field.

    Hey steelersrule6.

I looked up the game and the statistics. I cannot disagree with you on what Mahomes did. Given that, we put up 37 on them and Ben’s statistics were not shabby either. We have only played Mahomes once. Out of the last eight meetings with K.C. we have won six.

So, moving on from here with some optimism, as I stated in the original post here, we currently have an awesome Defense. A much, much better Defense than the one that played that day against K.C. I would think you would agree? I will focus on the Secondary. That Game & Now.

    That Game:
    • Artie Burns
    • Morgan Burnett
    • Terrell Edmunds
    • Sean Davis
    Now:
    • Steve Nelson (ex-Chief for what it may be worth.)
    • Joe Haden
    • Minkah Fitzpatrick
    • Terrell Edmunds (improved since it would seem.)

I think you would agree a much improved and upgraded unit in the Secondary as well as the Front seven. Overall, and again, just a much better Defense right now than back then. In addition, we had no Bell in that game. And Bell usually had good games against them. K.C. had most of their same offensive playmakers for that game as they do today. Bell had run for 179, 170, 144 and 121 in four of the games that he played against them.

I am not trying to down play this and make excuses. However, no Bell was critical. We have handled them very well over the years. This includes going to their place. Also, IMO, we have a much more “Extensive” Offense than back then. Back then it was AB & Bell for the most part. We are way more potent on “O” right now. Way more playmakers than back then. Way more diverse.

If you saw what the Patriots did last night they actually played them very well. Except for a few miscues the game should have been either closer or possibly a N.E. win. However, that is the way it is in most games as we know. The difference that a few plays can make, penalties, coaching decisions, etc. N.E. was hanging with them and from an objective standpoint, I genuinely believe we have a better Offense and Defense than N.E.. Now Coaching is the big difference. Belicheat game planned well. Have to give him credit whether you like him or not. Again, it was but a handful of plays that cost N.E. the game. Not Belicheat’s fault.

For me, I would like to play them. Have to play the better competition to use as a “Barometer” as to where you stand. As I stated in the other post, who knows, we may see them in January. For now I am focusing in on the next game.

    Hey Roonatic.

If you get a chance look at the somewhat "lengthy" (smile) post that I just put up about a minute ago. I think you will see some things in it that justify my position on us being able to deal with K.C.

Gotta go 5-1 in the division.

Frankly even the worst teams are extremely talented. The difference is they don’t believe in themselves. Regardless if they beat scrubs or not, winning leads to believing. Steelers must take care of business in and out of the division.

No doubt the Browns have some on-field talent but that is where it ends for them. They have the worst owner in all of sports, a question mark at GM and head coach, a 100% pure unadulterated culture of failure, and no leadership.

You will soon see the real Browns show up.

If this was a team without a HOF QB and a loaded defense I'd agree. Good teams are not just happy to make the playoffs. The yankees and dodgers would not be happy if they get knocked out in the first round years after year. The steelers were SB contenders last year and have had the talent to be SB contenders since Ben has been here and is healthy. The fact that we havn't won a playoff game in about 10 years is a catastrophe. We are not the browns... every team has a level of expectations based on their talent. We have consistently under performed under Tomlin so I get why people are concerned at 3-0. The good news is we have plenty of time to improve. There's clearly issues but there are also some things to be very excited about. If we played the chiefs this week no one would pick us to win...we'd probably get destroyed. Good news is it's only week 4. The playoffs is when we need to be playing our best ball. Not now.

Tomlin has consistently struggled against bad teams...we at least won these games.

The Browns are going to be good but just lost their star RB for a while and played a Dallas defense that's absolute trash-and-a-half. Defensively, they're very meh.

The Ravens are still king in the division until the Steelers (or someone else) can punch them in the mouth. Losing to the Chiefs isn't surprising.

I didn't mean they should be just happy to make the playoffs, I meant if they win 10 or 11 games they get in, they would be a top contender for the SB because of their defense.

What happened in crunch time in December, those scrubs at QB melted down, we just had to beat the Bills at home and the Jets. Duck threw 6 ints in those 2 games .

There is still no excuse for the 2009 tailspin... with or without Polamalu. I could understand if the Steelers were losing to the elite AFC teams, but they were losing to bottom feeders.... after winning a Super Bowl the previous February.
