Should the Steelers trade a third round pick for Sam Darnold?

I honestly believe that once you remove the pressure of the NY market it allowed him to just play and the Panthers are doing the right things as well. Scribe was arguing with someone about Brady and the Bucs the other day and besides the points talked about I think the Bucs players benefited from having Brady because it took the spotlight off them and allowed them to just play. It wasn't the Jamis Winston drama or how do you get the ball to Evans and Godwin or will Howard ever live up to draft status or any of those lingering story lines. It was all about Brady and that helps.

 

No QB was going to be good on that Jets team, a bad HC, and some of the worst skill position players in the NFL.

 

I called this in the offseason

 

I personally saw this coming myself as well. Adam Gase was not, is not and will never be nor live up to the "genius moniker" he had when he was a hot Head Coaching option. Some seem to forget as to why the 2013 to 2014 Broncos had such success; summed up in two words. Peyton Manning. Without him, Adam Gase has shown to be much of nothing since. His singular Miami Dolphins playoff appearance is nothing more than an anomaly of his accomplishments.... well, that and drafting/wasting high end caliber to even HOF level talent of course. This is not to say Sam Darnold is going to be a Hall of Famer anytime soon barring some extreme developments but to state that Darnold was simply a scrub due to his performance in what can be argued as the worst Football Operations in the NFL is unfair to him.



Darnold, I believe, will shock a lot more people as the season rolls along; all the more reason I had Carolina being a dark horse playoff contending team. Even with a Tampa Bay Bucs Squad that is actually far more top heavy in terms of depth than one admits, the rest of the NFC is still fairly open. A good break or two could all be needed for Carolina to get to the next level.



Now, my reasoning of him not coming here sadly still remains. We could not get him even if we tried. That said, the team is looking for their future signal caller as we speak.

 

I really hope Zach Wilson can change all of this... but sadly... his career so far is looking a little too Sam Darnold-ish for me.

 

Thank God we have an owner who wanted to bring back a washed up QB over trying something different. It's tradition!

 

They have quite a few draft picks in the next few years to acquire some talent.

 

He is suppose to be the one. Carolina desperately needs him to be the one. Sam makes better decisions & he gets into I'm the one territory.

 

Gase's fault. Oh wait, that excuse doesn't work anymore.
