My wife brought this up during the game Sunday. Why is it necessary for both teams to meet on the field and shake hands/hug/photo opp with each other after the games? Mask or no mask it seems like this is something that could easily be eliminated in order to socially distance.

I realize the players that play in the games have already made contact with each other. But not every player plays in the games. There really is no reason for coaches to meet at mid field, other than to say GG.

I bring this up because prior to the game Kevin Stefanski was on air talking to Tomlin, and at one point touched Tomlin on the shoulder before walking away. Now Stefanski has Covid, and he made physical contact with Tomlin.

Whether you like Tomlin or not, losing him would be a huge blow to the Steelers if they list him as a close contact.

It is strange to suggest this, but it makes sense if you think about it. Play the game and then head to the locker room.

I find it very ironic and hypocritical as well that they even have contact sports in the middle of this media frenzy driven epidemic.

I brought this up at the beginning of the season. No need for any unnecessary contact.

Hockey players should love it. Never understood how they could line up and shake hands after a brutal 7 game series where they were pounding the hell out of each other.

I love that the NHL emphasizes the handshake line. It's called sportsmanship. It is mostly gone in all of society anymore.

I find it kind of silly that they enforce all these protocols on the teams throughout the week and on the bench, but after the game they're all hugging and shaking hands. It's good for sportsmanship, but I don't think it's the best idea right now.

No, not if you follow the science. Respiratory viruses are overwhelmingly spread by sustained close contact (at least 15 minutes) inside a closed ventilation system, overwhelmingly from symptomatic people.

You don't need to wear a mask to take a walk outside or to drive in your car alone, or really at all unless you're sick and symptomatic. And if you are, don't pull down your mask to sneeze or cough, which is what I regularly witness.

Our news media and politicians/public health professionals have failed miserably in communicating this.

Right they decided a GAME and the $$$$$$$$$ is more important than canceling. Nothing even players lives and health are more important than the money.

It's not that I'm worried about it. With all the precautions being taken, it just seems like a smart thing to do.

That’s not the issue. Right or wrong they’ve decided to play the games. The debate is should the stop doing the post game stuff?

I didn't like that the Steelers was hugging and shaking the Browns players hands after the game, they had a outbreak on their team, just give them a fist bump and get to the locker room.

Its playoff time now. Any extra precaution taken would be a wise idea. The team who wins it all may end up being the team with the most available players.

Which one puts more of a risk out there? Physical contact for 2 and a half hours or a 25 second handshake and pat on the back.

And the NFLPA and players agreed. You sound as if no one had a say or choice in the matter.

Physical contact but..........I still think they need to cut the post game pleasantries ( never liked it anyhow )... EVERYBODY knows we're hanging on by a thread to keep this thing going, and it's unprecedented...

Mayfield was just an example we seen...Hacking, slobbering, wiping his snots and spittle on his arms and hands...then hugging it up with everyone... STUPID!

I think everyone understands the the risks that go with playing, and they're up for that...But no reason to yuck it up afterwards JMO!
