Maybe your right but I will say this. When our receivers make plays the DB is right there on him but when other receivers make plays Burns isn't even in the picture. Example on the last TD look where our DB was, 5 yards deep in the endzone and Boyd was right on the goaline. Burns isn't alone look at the large cushion we give in coverage. While I am not sitting here saying it is scheme and not player I am saying some players are not talented enough to play our style. jmo

These were similar to my thoughts. I want to go back and re-watch the game to see how he did on the plays where he wasn't targeted/didn't make big errors. He could have been awful all day long, but I just wasn't watching him that closely.

It seemed that the usual troubles - Burns and Davis - were both suffering in the game. There was one catch on the Bengals last scoring drive, and I think Green caught it in the middle. At first I thought it was VW making an error, but he was actually holding his zone, and Davis needed to pick up Green earlier.

I got torched on here for saying Artie wasn't going to be very good when he was in his rookie year. The reason he looked like he might turn into a good CB is teams didn't throw his way until late in the season. It was then he started giving up long TDs and the trend has continued until you see what we have now, he gets targeted a lot because he guesses on routes rather than playing the receiver.

He is a long strider, he can't change direction quick enough and he suffers from the same issues Sean Davis has, lack of football I.Q. and natural instinct. I know some will torch me again when I say Edmunds is going to look worse than Davis, notice how clean his jersey was? He is late to the ball and lacks coverage skills, not even close to NFL caliber safety. I will hold out hope he suddenly "gets it" but I'm not sure it will happen.

True but we don't have to give up on him if he spends some time watching from the bench. Some time on the bench and reflection might bring him around.

I don't know yet about everything else your saying but there sure are quite a few guys that seem to be worried about keeping their "jerseys clean".

burns has got to go. let's see what allen's got. we kept the big corner so let's use the kid. somewhere anywhere. hilton should get the start outside and we find a new slot corner amongst this group. what do we have to lose?

He's playing pretty rotten right now but what is the alternative?

Film Room: Artie Burns Struggling Technique Makes Him Hard To Trust
    https://steelersdepot.com/2018/10/f...struggling-technique-makes-him-hard-to-trust/

"Artie Burns has gotten a long leash in his career. Because he’s a first round pick (the team might not admit it but it matters), because he is blessed with physical talent, and because everyone wants to see him turn it around. But we’re six weeks into his third NFL season and the improvement with him just isn’t there."

"And if Morgan Burnett can return healthy, hopefully out of the bye, entertain the idea of pushing Cam Sutton out to that RCB spot. This team just can’t afford to wait and hope for Burns’ light to turn on. They’re in too critical a point of the season to be that patient."

Yup looked really bad. He made some rookie mistakes thats for sure. His confidence is indeed in jeopardy as is his play. I wonder if he is playing bad because of his confidence has diminished .

The uncontested TD that Burns gave up was a head scratcher. At some point opposition players are going to make plays. Uncontested plays are an issue and a teaching moment for coaches. It's very possible that Burns had good coverage on 80% of the other plays. Should the coaches bench a player over a handful of bad plays or do they hope that player can grown and become better? I am more on the teaching/learning/get better side as opposed just saying a player sucks and should be benched. The next guy up probably has less talent and will get beaten just like the starter.

He should lose his job period. As in not allowed near a NFL stadium. He sucks that bad

I have given up hope but you have a point. Steelers putting him in zone D reads is a disaster for him. He should be playing exclusively man press and if that’s not a Steelers thing he shouldn’t be a Steeler
