Is it just me, but every time the Steelers have 4rth and inches THEY ALMOST NEVER RUN A QB SNEAK ? A perfect example was the 4rth done conversion in Sunday’s game versus the Rams where MR rolled to his right and threw to Edmunds. Sure, it was great because it worked, but I still think the play call was terrible. Just as I’d of said had they handed it off to Samuels from 2-3 yds deep. Those handoffs take time to materialize giving the defense more time to penetrate.

Anyway, my point is this, why not run a QB sneak ? Sure, the defense will be ready for it but what are the odds of them being able to stop MRs forward push behind our all pro center ? I’m happy we won but I will never agree with that call under those circumstances, game and maybe even playoff hopes on the line. Your thoughts...

That's kind of a freak thing. Ben used to do it and it worked. Wilson does it, Brady does it with regularity and nothing ever happens!
I've amended my list of things that will survive a nuclear holocaust: Cockroaches, my ex-wife and Tom Brady......

    Hey fanfav.

Anyway we can utilize Zach Banner in these situations? 6'-8" 360 LBS. Come on Steelers, get the creative juices flowing. Have we tried him in similar situations, in any capacity? Anyone know? Is his height a concern in these situations? Given the concept of Center of Gravity. STEELWINDS

Not QB sneaking the ball on 4th and a foot doesn't bother me as much as when everyone in the universe knows we're running the ball straight up the middle and not pitching it out to the RB who can easily make the gain on the outside. Doing that at the goal line is twice as worse.

The oline is not the same as last year. But, Connor will be back so I'm not worried about short yardage.

Nix out has had a real negative affect on the running game. His one start made a huge difference.

Snell being out hurts our short yardage run game. He was drafted to get those 3rd or 4th and 1's.

    Hey fanfav.

Yes, The Fridge was quite a sight, huh?

Seriously though. The man has some serious tangibles. I think Tomlin stated he can not catch worth much though. However, in short situations he would probably be able to handle a 1-3 yard pass, be used as a decoy, hand-off and slam it down their collective throats. Shoot, hire me as a specialist in those situations. I will figure out a way to incorporate him into the "O". Shoot, I will do it on a volunteer basis.

We need to pull out all of the stops as it is obvious this "O" continues to have short-down issues especially at the goal line. As I stated the obvious, no more or minimal FGs. We need TDs. We cannot continue to leave points out on the field and have drives end because of the coaching staff's inabilities to figure this out. Try Big Zach.

Great Quotes below this morning for all of us that apply to this situation as well as to all of us in life. The teacher in me folks. Pick one if you choose and elaborate if you feel compelled. Have a great day all! STEELWINDS

Whether it’s QB sneak or something else, what we should be doing is hurrying to the line of scrimmage and getting on with it as quickly as possible.

Using a TO or taking an age to decide a play only helps the defence to get set.

With Nix on IR, maybe Smith gets some reps at FB. They signed Elliot back to the PS, so it doesn't seem like they're keeping him around for LB depth.

    Hey fanfav.

I know. It is one freakin' yard in most instances. Strap it on B & G and jam it down their throats. End of story! Stop with the "8-Wide" (smile) and man-up Pittsburgh. if you cannot get one yard to get the first down, or touch down, then maybe a copy of Coaching for Dummies should be ordered for this administrative staff. YES !!! And for the record, it wasn’t even a yard but more like a foot (or less) I’m not typically a fan of a QB sneak when it’s a full yard, but inches to go ...C’mon Man !!

They don't have a power run-blocking line. Haven't had one for awhile now. Plus the line they were going against is pretty stout.

Pouncey gets all kinds of accolades and they're deserved, but he has trouble with the bigger guys and blocking straight ahead. That's one reason they did all the line adjustments.

That's why Brady is so successful cause he doesn't mess around trying to figure out whether to go for it or not. He knows what the next play is beforehand and if it's close then line up and do your thing.

Most of the time we call a timeout to discuss a lame strategy.
