Sorry, not seeing what everyone else does in this guy. He's had a couple 15 tackle games, but he's not near the big time playmaker he's made out to be. Not a single impact play today when we could have used several.

Throw in the fragility factor and I'm not sure I would throw a lot of money at him on a second contract.

    Chad Brown was much better.

Probably playing injured. He is 100% the playmaker he is made out to be.

Needs to get passed the injury problem but when he's healthy, lights out.

Unfortunately, that *is* the problem with him. I have no doubt of his playmaking ability, but how long do we hold out hope that he'll finally not be injured every 4th game?

My friend he is (lights out) when capable of playing. Unfortunatley he only plays
about 10 games a year. Big decision coming up on him shortly.

He's coming off a knee injury that kept him out for several weeks. They were rotating him with Vince Williams. Give him a little time.

Not worried about Shazier's play given the circumstances.

I just hope he can stay on the field for the remainder of the season.

2 INT, 3 FF, 3.5 sacks, 13 TFL for his career. That's a playmaker? Surely he's not hurt every game he plays.

7 passes defensed - Keuchly averages that per season.

Get him healthy, the defense is better with him, let's worry about contracts after the season, so we can see an entire body of work for a given season.

When healthy, he has big time ability. Not sure how you can't see that. Shazier being constantly injured that prohibits this playmaking skill, is another topic.

He has shown what he's capable of on a few occasions. He was absolutely a beast in the Cincy playoff game last year and really single-handedly won that game for the Steelers with his incredible playmaking ability. Unfortunately, my fear is we may have Kendrell Bell 2.0 on our hands.:frown new:

I guess I always wonder why people give him such a hard time for being injured a lot, but nobody really says anything about BEN missing time every year, Bryant and Bell missing time because of something they can control, and the abundance of O-linemen we have that are injury-prone. This is football, a very physical sport, and maybe Shazier needs to learn to play a little less reckless to try to preserve himself some. He is 100% "team" that is what makes him different than some.

He's by far our best LB. Put Shazier on a good defense and I think he's probably a superstar. His speed and quickness is what sets him apart. I think his instincts are a little lacking but that should come with playing time. He takes him self out of plays often. His health has for sure kept him from putting up impressive stats. He's unreliable. His talent is undeniable but if he can't stay healthy it doesn't matter. His body build cannot handle his position. There's a reason why most LB's aren't like him.

Our first two picks next season better be LB's. Oh and we also need to trade up in the 1st round and get a safety. :) so 3 picks in the first 2 rounds. should be easy.

Those were career numbers after 25 games, not this year. I can see how you might have been confused.

    Shazier: 6'1", 230 lbs
    Timmons: 6'1", 234 lbs
    Keuchly: 6'3" 235 lbs

Marc Barron plays OLB for the Rams at 6'2" 213. Deone Bucannon plays OLB for the Cardinals at 6'1" 211.

    Size isn't the issue.

height and weight aren't the whole story. I also have a hard time believing he's 230. I've seen him upclose. He's ripped but not that much. either way his body isn't holding up to the demands of the position.

I see a lot of disagreements on the OP, but I trust it's not about the Chad Brown comment. No way one can put Shazier in that class yet. Potential maybe, but he's not there yet.

Nope, not confused. Like everyone else in this thread, I know he's a playmaker, it's obvious.

Have to stop covering your eyes when the defense is on the field, you're missing them!
