I got bored, so I threw a mock together. No TE (sorry numbah,BF) and no tarheels (darcrav :( ), but I still think I did alright. Let me know what you all think. Used CBS sports draft analysis to gauge which round each player was likely to be drafted.

    1. Marquis Lee WR (USC) l 6'0'' 195 - Perfect WR2 for us. Very explosive with the ball in his hands. Runs good routes, has great leaping ability and is a very good blocker. I think he has an opportunity to be something very special in the NFL.

    2. Ed Reynolds FS (Stanford) l 6'2'' 205 - Lanky, physical and instinctive. Can hold up in center field, and is a tremendous open field tackler. Reynolds is an absolute force in the run game.

    3. Keith McGill CB (Utah) l 6'3'' 214 - Okay, so I took the bait and went with a bigger corner. He would be effective in press coverage in the NFL and has good speed. Would play ST too as he played gunner on kick coverage and had outside duties on punt coverage.

    4. Pierre Desir CB (Lindenwood) l 6'1'' 195 - Might need some refining to become an NFL starter as he played low level competition in college, but is a very good athlete and well worth the risk/reward here in the 4th.

    5. Morgan Breslin OLB (USC) l 6'1'' 250 - Was USC's top pass rusher and TFL player in 2012 with 13.5 sacks and 19.5 TFL. Missed most of 2013 with a hip injury. Might be a little shorter, but was considered one of the top pass rusher prospects before his injury. Worth the risk in round 5? Yes.

    5. Ryan Carrethers NT (Ark. St.) l 6'1'' 330 - Played at a smaller school, but looks the part of an NFL NT and would fit very well in the middle of a 3-4 DL. A little bit of a project, but I think this kid can play.

    6. Cornelius Lucas OT (Kansas St.) l 6'8'' 328 - Big man. Good run blocker who (like most big guys) struggles with leverage. Would be a nice project for Munchak. I was temped to go with Seantrel Henderson from the U w/ this pick, but wasn't sure if he'd make it this far. Henderson has some off field issues, but has the most physical potential of any of the later round OT's.

    7. Kapri Bibbs RB (Colorado St.) l 5'11'' 203 - Set all kinds of records at Colorado St. this year. More of a speed/change of pace guy, but he also runs very hard between the tackles. Would be a solid spark for the O every now and again. Gives us an option if LSH's knee makes him a no-go. RB's not named Bell won't be getting many touches this year anyways.

I like this mock a lot.

I still want one of the three TE's but I wouldn't be upset at all with your first five selections. If this were the actual Steelers draft in May, I would call it a success.

Love the 2,3, and 4th pick. Don't like Lee at 15 though

does lee not have trouble with injuries? that is the only knock I have on him unless I am thinking of someone else. does Reynolds have good speed? I want a fs that can run. I am tired of watching our secondary try and catch wrs

Switch out Lee with one of the bigger receivers and I would like it more. I'm a USC fan and have seen every game of Lee's career he can make some big plays but he drops a lot of easy passes. I like the picks of CB in the 3rd and 4th round.

not my favorite. to many "potential" players. we need now players, we don't have time to work on potential players. if we had all our starters in place then maybe. another thing is we need to add speed on defense. these DB's are not speed guys by any means. big yes. we have enough run blocking tackles. we need some more pass blocking tackles. no to sentrel too. and I'm a U fan. I want munch to have something to work with that is a starter, I don't want him wasting his time working on a potential player. we have enough injured players too. I want guys that have stayed healthy being brought in. bens time tick, tick tick. besides that, it's ok.:smiley1::cool:

Steel1031, yeah he had a nagging MCL sprain during his senior year. Couple that with having a crap QB and no other play makers around him, and he had a bad 2013 for his standards. Would've been a top 5 pick if he had been on par with his freshman and sophomore outputs. And Reynolds is projected to run just as fast a Clinton-Dix and Pryor, but we wont know for sure until the combine. Had 6 picks and 301 return yards (3 scores) in 2012 though, so I assumed he wasn't slow.

Steelersrule6, I'm assuming you're talking about Evans and Benjamin? I might be comfortable with Evans, but it really depends on his 40 time for me. He might be a little bit of a reach IMO, but not enough to upset me to select him at 15. I'm not intrigued by Benjamin at all though. I don't think he has the skills to be a successful NFL WR. But yeah, I kinda swung for the fences with the 2 CB's. I think its a safe bet that at least one of them will turn out to be a really good player, and we'd be set for a while if they both do haha

What do you want, 7 starters out of the 2014 draft? Seattle did pretty well with DB's not considered "speed guys".. Lee is a now player, Reynolds is NFL ready as is McGill.. Breslin and Desir have huge upside IMO.. 3 potential rookie starters out of one draft is pretty darn good in my book. I think you're being a little unfair mac..

Pretty good mock, SG, of course, switch out Lee with Ebron :lolol:

No, actually Lee will be a good pick up for whoever drafts him, decent size and big play ability, wouldn't mind having him at all.

I made my comments in blue. I may not like every one of them, but you've got some good stuff there. Of course everyone's going to disagree on some guys, and that's part of what's so interesting. Thanks for sharing, SG.

Always good to get a west coast perspective,
this is where I feel the Steelers scouting department is failing. We need more of a west coast presence. LOTS of good ball players out there.

I wouldn't complain if we took Lee @ #15 but I wouldn't love it. Can't say I like the Reynolds pick at all. Mcgill is solid. I love Desir, unfortunately, I think everyone else does too. You can go to any fanbase's mocks and everyone takes Desir in the 3rd or 4th. I think he is going to go way up the board if he tests well and could ultimately go late 2nd or early 3rd. I like the positions you took in the bottom half of the draft but I would go with different names.

ok. I just didn't watch usc much cause I cant stand em. I love the safety pick as long as anyone we take can come in and play right away. the main reason I like dix is because of the system they run. it is very similar to ours so I figured he would be ahead of any other safety we picked plus he can play. not sure what Stanford runs but he at least has to be a smart kid
