Serious refs? Why even bother playing the game?

Do you believe it was because "Roge The God" was there or was it based on all of the whining the Giants did up to the game to the media or was it because of Sandy's destruction? I am not sure.

It was helmet to helmet. He dove and that's the first thing to make contact. Clark of Harrison gets the penalty and the fine for that hit.

Honestly, I can't remember the last time I was actually so mad.
Ya, we lost to GB in the SB, major disappointment.
You're mad, then get over it, sort of.

    But this, infreakingcredible.

The way we played, we could have possibly shut them out.
But, had to win in a close one.

I can only imagine, after the horrendous call on the Giants' TD after Ben's 'non-fumble'...

assistant: "Roger, Dan on line 1".

    Roger: (oh ****) "Yes Sir?"

Dan: " Son, I know that NY had that terrible storm, we all feel terrible. But, my hindquarters are beginning to ache. Can you not make it so obvious?

Roger: "Yes, sir, but a Giants win would mean so much for..."

Dan: " Sorry for interrupting but NY is a fine city, they will overcome. Giving the Giants the game will not re-build the city. Anyway, with the cryboys, Iggles and that other team, they will easily win their division. You obviously didn't think how it would affect us."

Roger: "Sorry sir, obviously I wasn't thinking..."

Dan: "No ****, you better start thinking, you toad, I made you..., sorry, losing my temper, and we wouldn't want that".

    Roger: "No sir".

Dan: "Good, well then, are we to see a fair game from here on? I don't make second phone calls".

Roger: "Yes sir, I see your point. We're calling the refs as we speak".

Dan: "Top of the day, to you".

    Roger: "Sorry si..." bzzzzzzzzzzzz

(wow, I kept that much cleaner than I intended.)

Something should be said. Refs calling a game like that puts the creditbility of your league in question.

I am not normally one to make excuses about officiating, I am beginning
to wonder about some of these calls. This was a bad officiated game.

I said it before and I will continue saying it and that is our team has a target on their back and it all goes back to when they started on Harrison. I think that situation needs to stop and it needs to start at the front office. I guess everyone knows that the Sanders deal with the leg injury last week is under a full investigation along with the coaches and if proven guilty their is a fine and a possible loss of a draft pick. Now I would like to know how the hell are they going to prove it was a fake injury. And Goodell strikes again.

Kind of shows where we are at as a team right now. Not only did we beat the SB champs in an away game but we also overcame and beat the refs as well. We are on our way people. It took a little while but it looks like we may be on our way.

I'm not a tin-foil hat kind of person when it comes to people claiming refs are trying to fix a game, but during the first half it was so bad you could almost make a believer out of somebody. Those really were just some bad calls and not conspiracies, but after seeing those it's not hard to believe that some people think that way.

Having said that, as much as I absolutely hated the horrendous officiating, it did make the victory that much sweeter knowing that the Steelers had to overcome points lost because of the bad calls.

I have an issue with the PF call on Clark because later in the game a Giants DB dove at Wallace and hit him H2H. That was the catch where Wallace dove to the ground to catch it, was untouched, and started to get up to run. Giants DB went straight H2H and no flag.

It is incompetence on the part of the refs. The inconsistency is disturbing.

I'm also thinking of the 2010 and 2011 seasons where Hines Ward received blatant H2H from Ravens and Patriots and no flags. And Ward received concussions on both hits.

    BS

We weren't the only ones who had to play against the refs yesterday. The Redskins had some equally bad luck resulting in Carolina points on the board.

actually there was a flag, but for some reason they picked it up. the excuse was that Wallace was trying to get up and therefor there was no personal foul. an obvious H2H hit on the Steelers gets picked up. a phantom H2H is called on Clark and they dont pick that flag up. that play could have cost them the game. that was the difference in a field goal try and a new set of downs.

it would show me a lot if the officials got punished somehow for their terrible game. im not holding my breath, but it would be nice.

no matter what anyone says. the replacement refs where never any worse than what we saw out of the regular refs yesterday.

Yeah I don't understand that...how can the refs huddle and pick up the flag after Wallace gets hit H2H, but no huddle after Clark's hit on Cruz??? Didn't any ref see that Clark hit him in the waist with his shoulder???

Where are all the columnists and ESPN analysts who crucified the replacement refs at now?? Why don't the regular refs get the same treatment? They should really be held to a higher standard given they are the "real" refs and now are making big bucks

I thought the analysts during the game were very vocal about their disagreement with the questioned calls, and I think there is a fair amount of press in the news today about it as well.

I think it was the same game where the refs were slow to count players on the field and were standing between the QB (Cam, I think) and the line, and it ended up bringing a delay of game penalty because they couldn't start the play?
