... Do other teams do the community stuff the Steelers do?

Just saw on the Steelers site that the rookies went to Children's Hospital to visit the kids today. I love that. That must be so cool for those kids. I know they do this every year with the rookies and that they do a coat drive in the winter plus many other things like this. So is this commonplace with every NFL team?

Yes I think its pretty commonplace around the NFL. I see stories about teams doing similar things. Don't know whether they are team organized or just guys acting on their own. My bet is its a combination of the two. Team probably gives them some options, then guys can pick and choose:shrug:. Not to mention the players involvement with their own charities.

Like turtle said' it's a bit of both. Really stand up for the guys who do it on their own quite a bit. Hats off to em all.

Pretty much all pro sports leagues do those kinds of things. Even pro wrestlers do it. John Cena was one of the most requested athletes at one time actually from the Make A Wish foundation.

All teams except the Browns, where the community has to organise similar events for the players and staff out of pity.

Yep. Here in Virginia this week, the Redskins raised $300,000 with a golf tournament to support literacy efforts.

Pretty much the same thing happens with military units. Not as much with donations, but local community cleanups, Habitat for Humanity, food banks, etc.

Every unit does at least something for their community and plenty of individuals volunteer time or talents to other causes.

Sports players tend to get the spotlights locally.

Yes but I think the Steelers go above and beyond for the community
