For the third time in his 5-year career, P Dan Sepulveda has been placed on IR because of an injury to the knee of his plant leg. Sepulveda went on IR last year with an injury to the same knee, and the surgery he had then was the third to his right ACL. Jeremy Kapinos, who replaced Sepulveda last year, was signed again.

    Re: Sepulveda or IR (again)

Unfortunately, this is something that is not is going to just go away. Ive had multiple ACL tears and in the same manner as Sepulveda to where noone ever touched me. I hate to say it, but his career is all but over!! This really sucks!!!

Thank God he was still available. I thought they should have gone with him from the start!

Is it too late to call him or a 4th round pick a bust? Too bad... Hope he was wise with his money...

Scott Brown, Steelers beat writer for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reporting on Twitter :

Silver lining to Sepulveda injury: meniscus tear, not an ACL tear.

LOL! Silver lining? This guy rips a ligament getting out of bed in the morning. We can't keep going through this exercise year after year with him.
The real silver lining is that Kapinos was still available. I was very critical of Tomlin when he waived Kapinos in the pre-season in favor of Sepulveda when Kapinos obviously won the job. I hate it for Sep, he seems like a top notch guy, but it's time to admit that he just can't stay healthy and move on.

Not sure, but think that each time he's had a surgery, we went to the SB:
2006 at Baylor (we won vs Sea)
2009, played 12 games, then IR. We won vs Arizona.
Last year, he went to IR... everybody knows what happened last year.

This year he's already on IR...?

Well, I like that part of the trend, but stick a fork in this guy. I thought I was hearing (reading) lots of people giving that 3rd guy with the most head scratching name ever a nod also. Swazey Waters...

That explains why we kept him! Probably a back door deal with Kapinos for him to wait to come back.

I thought Kapinos was very good last year, and frankly, I'm surprised someone didn't sign him this year. I'm glad he's back. Nothing against Sepulveda, but he really hasn't been all that good this year.

pity the guy can't stay healthy, like him but him ending every year on IR will probably mean that his career (in Black & Gold at least) is over

I kinda liked the pick when we drafted him, even though it was way high. I thought what I saw of his ability in college was pretty good. Saddly it didn't materialize in the NFL. I say if he can come back next year try him out at linebacker for depth, make him play special teams.
