i never said it was a perfect formula, but we have very little else in a player that knows the defensive alignments as well.:cool:

Of course it makes a huge difference . When a WR comes out of a break if there is another DB directly in his route he must slow or adjust that route to create another passing window . This gives you time as a CB to recover some on the route.

If a CB is beat on the first move with no help over the top then the passing window is wide open and the QB can make simple easy throws to a spot instead of a tough throw .

Ross can not play CB at a good level without help . The more man we play the more all will see .

Pretty sure there is a interference rule on the books in the NFL. Not certain.

Not if the DB is standing in that spot . The rule states the Defender has a right to that spot it is up to the route runner to avoid the contact. If the route runner creates the contact it will not be called.

Do you expect the Defender to just step aside and let him run by ? Maybe you and our DB'S are both playing by the get out of the way rule that I am not aware of.

Preseason is about evaluating players. Tomlin knows what he has in Cockrell and Gay. Perhaps this is just him getting a good look at Sensabaugh and Hilton.

You said "Tomlinson" but you meant "Tomlin" and I know that but there are some guys on the internet that are just really big smarty pants that always point out obvious little misspoken things by people and I just wanted to go ahead and tell you about this before one of "those guys" show up. Man I can't STAND people like that... LOL!

What is dumb about easier to get away from one guy than it is 2 ?What is dumb about having help allows you to play closer ? What is dumb about easier to lob a ball over one guy than to fire it between 2 ?

Also the evidence supports Ross is not good at man, that's why they are looking at his position for a possible replacement.I didn't need a Football ranking site to tell me he was bad at it, his tape has always showed it .

So you can Love Ross all you want and call me whatever you want , but the fact is Ross is a bad CB in man coverage no matter how you slice it.

None of that has anything to do with what I called you out on (WRs slowing down because of help over the top, allowing underneath corner to get back in phase)

Again, my criticism of your nonsense had nothing to with Cockrell

Slowing up on your route coming out of your break is how you get your QB picked off. It's what you are coached NOT to do.

Exactly. Is why when there are 2 guys the route is run differently than with 1 guy and that window is tighter.Because the WR must slow to make a 2nd . move or catch the ball and protect it from player #2 . All of which makes the CB'S job easier and exposes him when he is 1 on 1 with no help.

It's called settle into the window .You can hear that on the HBO camp thing over and over I am sure .As a WR settles you get a chance to catch up as a CB.Imagine that.

No. No one said that . Our CB would be trailing the WR the Safety is over the top the route runner can't run thru the Safety legally thus the WR must throttle down or angle away or break off the route completely. This helps the trailing CB .

Damn I have seen first year CB'S understand this pretty quickly , it's just a simple fact of Football.

Isn't it ironic that often auto correct gets things incorrect? LOL!

Nope it is a fact that every CB who has ever played knows. When you have Safety help it is your job to get into the trail technique. I played CB and probably better than some on this Steeler Team.Well that's not saying much I could name 5 HS DB'S right now who have better skills than our guys.

Sad that you really believe that. The stock that you put into HS compared to the NFL shows a complete lack of respect for the game.

Your best HS player couldnt carry an NFL waterboys jock.

No it doesn't you can see NFL talent early in a players career .I would say as low as middle school in some cases .

The huge difference if the work and commitment part .skill wise not that big a deal when comparing bottom tier NFL players to elite HS players.

Now this thread has gone beyond the pale. We're talking about high school and middle school DBs being better than drafted NFL players. WTF??? I admit to tossing some ridiculous things out there at times but at least I know it. We should rename the MB to Uncle Dan's misguided children. You can't possibly believe that PWP???
