Yeah, I think at minimum we would have played a strong game in the divisional round, and would have likely made the AFCCG. The defense played great for most of last season. It was on the field for 1,030 scrimmage plays vs. the Ravens being on the field for 921 and the Pats being on the field for 948. Our defense allowed an average of 4.7 yards per play, tied for first with the Pats and 49ers. By comparison with the Ravens, we gave up 18.9 ppg while the Ravens gave up 17.6 ppg, however on a points-per-play basis we gave up 0.294 points per play while the Ravens gave up .306 points per play. There are plenty of other stats that demonstrate what we all saw on the field last season - our defense became elite over the course of the season while our quarterback play plummeted, with the 3 game losing streak at the end (where we scored exactly 10 points in each game) capping it all off. Add good QB play to the mix and we're a legit contender. Maybe not the favorite, but a legit contender.

Doing well, Steelwinds, staying healthy. Hope you and yours are too.

Those Sabot films were instrumental in shaping me as a fan. The only way to get your NFL fix back then, I loved the music that went along with it too, awesome :herewego:

Playing in empty stadiums and isolating players, coaches, medical staff and everyone else that is involved for months on end won’t work. All it takes is a number of high profile players to say no and that plan goes out the window from a commercial point of view. Rookies and young players that need the money will probably be fine with it but if some of the established stars hold out what is the championship going to be worth to the team that wins it?

And no matter how careful they are some players will contract Covid 19 during the season, meaning all their teammates and any opponent they played within during the previous two weeks will probably need to isolate themselves, meaning no games for two weeks, if even one player gets the virus during the season it will utterly f**k up the schedule for multiple teams. I don’t see how it is workable personally.

I see it very hard to manage myself. Soon as 1 player gets it on each team there’s gonna be a lot of concern among their teammates. The fact you can have the virus and not show symptoms and the inconsistency in the testing is gonna be a huge hurdle.

A number of treatments are undergoing studies with results expected around Summer time. If there is effective treatment, they’ll will definitely be a season.

Teams make money from TV, not ticket sales.

Going to Steeler games is an amazing experience, if you haven’t been you should go.

Actually they make money from both TV and ticket sales along with Parking, concessions, merchandise and various sponsors.

    I agree with the experience.

That's the point. not only the patrons, but the employees. Who also don't wash their hands between interactions with each patron. Under normal transmission rules, it's mitigated somewhat. With this thing being so easily transmitted...

I'm particular to Pinball machines. used to hit the arcades back in the early 90's, but before that there was a pool room with Nintendo consoles in separate rooms you could rent time on.

The new machines from Jersey Jack's Pinball are where my eyes are set now. This damn thing cost me my trip to Osaka and Silverball Planet this spring break by bullet train.

Theres a guy on YouTube who collects all the NFL Films music. I think his name is Dave Vogel? Set his videos to play all in the background and you’ll feel inspired all day long.

Not to be dismissive of your question, but I'm not concerned with the hypotheticals. There's no telling whether we would have done better or worse with Ben last year. We certainly should have, but that's only speculation.

As far as the upcoming (potentially) season, we are no better or worse than last year until some questions get answered. As it stands, Ben isn't our starting qb from a health standpoint. He hasn't been cleared for full contact that I know of. His arm hasn't been tested at game level that I know of.

The result of our OL's additions and subtractions hasn't been calculated yet. We don't have stability at center that we know of yet. Pouncey sucked ass last year and is now a year older. How can anyone say that his play will improve? Was he injured last season and is now healthy? Was he simply uninterested in his craft without Ben's hands on his balls? Those are the only two scenarios I can see where his play improves.

As I said, until those questions (and others) are answered, we're no better a team than last season. Our defense is good for a number of wins regardless of our offense, but they won't win the majority of games by themselves.

We are a .500 team until we prove otherwise. I'm not trying to be pessimistic. I'm trying to be realistic.

I'm with you there, brother. Freaking sucks. Before the collapse, I was starting to drink the koolaid. I was even posting that Tomlin might actually deserve some respect for steering this ship admirably through dangerous waters. I was ready to join in the COTY discussion. And then...BLAM...he runs her aground. And I'm sitting there with deja vu.

Yes yes. And with the voice of John Facenda in the backround. Those were the days.

And then a little bit of nostalgic comedy.

I was exaggerating to make a point. The only way players make millions of dollars is from tv money... tickets for games alone doesn’t let owners get anywhere close to paying them that much.

If we are no better than we were last year, at this point, then we will make the playoffs this year, right? Maybe? Of course that is assuming everyone else isn't any better either. Just being optimistic.
