The Titans have signed Sean Spence to a one year deal, reportedly worth $2.5 Mil.

Damn...of the remaining guys he was one I wanted back the most I think. He played well when Shazier was out and was pretty much a 3rd starter at ILB. I'd rather have him in there filling in than Williams (and thats not a knock on Williams). Hopefully he'll have a chance to be a starter and it was decent money...reunited with DL in TN now.

Hate to see him go.... his presence on the field was inspiring, and his fight to get back to the field made him one of my favorite players..
In the end, he deserves to be in a place where he'll get the chance to shine as a starter..
    Good luck

another thing is this could arise as a need position too. if garvin goes elsewhere too, which it looks like he may, we could be thin on the inside.

Thats a shame. Not a lot of money, wonder if the Steelers even made an offer.

I think Williams is better so as long as they keep him around, Im fine with this.

losing depth at some of the positions is a slight cause for concern.

Looks like Fort will step in as the new #4 ILB with Spence leaving.

Steelers probably couldnt match that $2.5M or anywhere near it.

Not much on the FA front for ILB. I'm OK with Fort and draft picks. VW98 can handle the primary back up role imo.

Jamari Lattimore 6'2" 230 from the Packers and most recently the Jets may fit price wise. Pretty much a backup his career, 27yrs old. Has played mostly special teams which is a bonus.

I wonder if Darren Lee is at 25 if they would pull the trigger on that.

I think the decision came down to him or Williams and since Williams is better suited to take over for Timmons they went with him.

    That sums it up.

You know about a month ago someone suggested a wild notion to trade or even cut Timmons [instead of renegotiaing again] in order to get like close to 10mil for FA's. After some thought I went along. This of course would have kept both Williams and Spence here. What is odd for me about this is frankly, I would just as soon see most of the starter FA's go than these back ups. Sometimes I think that is the strength of this team other than a handful of really great core players. Oh well moving on. This as you noted is probably best for him though. Being behind Shazier is a big jump.

Damn, only a one year deal though. Makes you wonder if the Steelers made an offer at all?

In the end he should have signed that 1 year deal with us. We paid him for 2 years to recover didn't we?

Shame to see him go. I know, I know, it's a business, but... the Steelers kept a lot of faith when other teams wouldn't have.

In hind sight, it would have been better to have cut him with an injury settlement back when he got hurt.

I wish him well. He came through a devastating injury to play again. The Steelers had the patience and cared enough to keep faith that he would play again and contribute. And he did. Turn the page...

Good story and hope he does well. Would like to see him start in Tennessee. I think Fort is capable of taking over so not terribly concerned about implications for our roster. Maybe "Money Pit" Zumwalt can also make an impact this year.
