There are definitely worse backups out there. If he’s cheap enough he would be solid depth.

Bringing in someone with familiarity is a huge boost. It's not just depth, but immediately insertable depth.

Thats what I am thinking. I’m not a particularly big Davis fan but for depth, probably a good signing.

So he's actually worse than we all thought he was? Couldn't make the Colts defense as a back up? And why would we want him?

At some point we have to stop bringing back guys just because the played here previously. He couldnt stick with the Steelers in either of his first to stints with the team. He couldnt make the Colts roster.

If we are thinking he is an upgrade, then that sure doesn't say much about the guys we do have.

You’re right. It doesn’t say much about our safety depth, yet he may indeed be an upgrade all the same.

And that we're willing to consider it tells you all you need to know about the state of affairs in our secondary.

I thought I remembered him filling in well as a BU his last stint. I may not be recalling that correctly.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Wasn't sure, so I didn't stick my neck out on that one. There are plenty of nooses out there already with my name on them. Didn't need to add another. ;)

I don't get why we bring back a buy that couldn't make the team or another team and then turn around and sign him. I don't remember him being that good but I could be wrong.

    Sign them all!!!

I'm in the camp that we're what we are this season. Put the check book away and let's see how things play out. Save the money and future picks. Let's play some football.

2 be honest. I have always thought he had a bad rap here. Everyone I know points 2 two plays.
I could give way more plays 2 point out on a few of our players in the Secondary. I will not say names.

I know one of the plays you are talking about and yes, I’m still sore at him for it :lolol:

Football 101, do not blow up your own player to allow a TD.

Davis' most glaring errors happened when he was still raw and expecting Mike Mitchell to help him line up. Mike was too busy looking for his next big hit after giving up first down yardage on 3rd down so he could strut to read the play accurately. So that hampered his development not to mention getting roasted by Gronk time and time again.

Agreed. Though with Gronk and this team ....who has he not roasted. LoL
Hell he made us look so bad at times we thought maybe if You just don't cover him he'll go away. LoL

Josh Mauro is exhibit A of why we can’t try to put Loudermilk on the practice squad.

If you put together a list of worst plays made by a Steeler in the past decade, that one would be a contender for the top spot. It didn't just cost them a touchdown. It cost them the game. There is no way the Chargers manage that comeback if Haden snuffs out that long drive with an end-zone interception.
