Saw the write up and this particular play stands out for me.

This is a concept NE runs a lot of and burns people with. The outside receiver is supposed to run through or run his route tighter (as much as possible without getting a flag) the DB coming over to pick up the inside guy. He either makes him have to adjust around him or makes him late to the catch and gives the WR time to make a move and pick up more yardage.

He doesn't and takes a loop around Davis who has a clear run at the WR just as he catches the ball. Great job with the tackle here by Davis.

That's some impressive closing speed, he covered about 10 yards, in the time Smith threw that ball out to the flat. Good wrap up tackle, Arite could take a few notes.

Davis does well when he knows who his man is, when he has to recognize the play and decide between being the over the top guy or intermediate zone he hesitates too much and shows up late.

    This.

Situational awareness is still something he needs to improve. Then again, at least against the Chiefs, he did show progress in that regard.

Davis played his best game as a pro.

And hopefully, next Sunday he will continue to progress, and play his next best game.

So far the guy has started 8 games. He is still just a babe.

I'm more worried about the play of Mitchell. Davis has upside, young legs and will only get better. JJ Wilcox showed no drop off replacing Mitchell when injured and played quite well. Personally tired of the FS that's just a hitter and not a true cover safety. I feel Wilcox brings a bit of both. Mitchell is not a good coverage safety. Just my opinion.

I've been impressed with Davis several times this year. Hope to see more like that.

Me too. I rememeber him missing a few coverages early in the season, but he seems to really be catching on of late. I like the way he plays.

He is not the true answer. He is the answer to kick Mike off the field, but we still need at least 1 Safety with a high skill level.

Let us hope that the trajectory of that trends upward. Not just noe but for the rest of the season as well.
