You understand that's a dead cap hit right and not actually money paid out? Also like I said before the cap hit is there regardless.

No I don't cause it is not a dead cap it that is money we paid him in a signing bonus.....it is real money coming out of the Steelers pocket

If Antonio Brown is cut the Steelers will need to account for at least $21.12 million on the salary cap. This dead money is from a $19 million signing bonus that was paid to Brown in 2017 and $12.96 million salary conversion paid to Brown in 2018 to help the Steelers with their salary cap this season. The $19 million was prorated over five years and the $12.96 million over 4 years. Both have three years of proration remaining and the Steelers need to account for all of that remaining money whether or not he is on the team next year.

If Brown is released the team will save $1.045 million in cap room. At least $495,000 of that would be offset by whomever takes his place on the roster so the effective cap savings are nil.

They get whatever the receive in the trade.
The whole point of all this is you originally said he was untradable which is completely untrue. Would a trade be stupid? Would a trade make sense? Could a trade be a huge mistake? Maybe, maybe not. But a trade is a possibility.

Also this is something to keep an eye on as well:

The deadline for a deal would be the $2.5 million roster bonus Brown is due on the third day of the league year. If the Steelers trade him, it would save $1 million in salary cap space (roughly $22 million to keep him, $21 million cap hit to deal him) and create $15 million in cash savings.
