This was really annoying to read but the silver lining is, I think the offense will look better with Mason.

I know, some of us keep saying the team will be better by losing superior talent but when your superior talent is making you play a flawed scheme, the results are what you saw the first two weeks of the season. At least until Mason took over.

Okay..... Now how about the defensive scheme? I'd like to see someone break that down, because to me, it looks like a gong show.

How do you breakdown a Chinese fire drill?

They could start by not putting Vince on WR's, stop letting teams dictate the coverage. That would be a big improvement.

I want Mason to succeed for a number of reasons.

    1. prove the naysayers wrong. "3rd round, OKL qb's dont make it" etc
    2. He is our QB, im going to root regardless who is there. Vick or Crapernick as well. Steelers are my team and I don't look at their personal life lol. Ben is my 2nd fav player and im sure he is a dbag lol.
3.Mason just has the persona of a franchise QB. He looks and acts like someone with something to prove. I would love to hear this guy give post game presses for years to come, hold a couple of trophies while winking at the players too lol.

This week will be telling if he is for real or not. 49ers will fully gameplan for him.

If that article is an accurate assessment than it’s pretty damning for #7 and all the fans that claim tomlin isn’t and x’s and o’s Guy.

Fully gameplan for someone that has basically zero game film?

This showed up on Metcalf’s TD. The Hawks has been lining up Metcalf on the outside, and Nelson as the outside corner matched up with him and did a solid job. On the TD the Hawks lined somebody up outside of Metcalf (I think it was a TE), and Nelson took the outermost receiver, who did nothing but take two steps and stop. Meanwhile Edmunds ended up on Metcalf, and was beaten badly at the snap. Butler’s scheme blindly put our outside corner on a decoy and Edmunds on the true receiving threat. It’s moronic, and basically says that the players on the field are too stupid to understand anything more complicated than “ummm... I’m the 1st/2nd/3rd defender from the sideline, so I take the 1st/2nd/3rd eligible receiver from the sideline.” Butler is using high school man coverage assignments vs. NFL OCs. Yeah, that’s gonna work...

The first game was similar too. They had made a point of saying how they wanted Barron on the running backs coming out of the backfield? So once Brady and BB see this they decide to wear Barron out trying to chase a quick shifty rb all along the line presnap. At one point Barron was gased and stop at about the middle linebacker's normal position while RB continued on towards the right, Brady snaps the ball and throws to his rb who gets a quick 7 yards to the sideline before Barron can get over to him. Granted it was the first game of the season but Barron should have signaled Watt to drop out of his blitz and get in the passing lane to make Brady lob it over him while Barron could then Blitz the middle. They just weren't prepared for them to attack their defense and they should have been.

Run the ball. Get back to basics, watch the w's mount.
Play fundamentally sound football, don't turn ball
over. Steelers can play power football if the coaches understand
this, which they may not. Tell the OL to get with the program
and start blocking. Tell the defense to get aggressive and hit people.

I said this same thing. The kid can run this offense the way we need this offense ran right now. Ben was trying to run it like the offense we used to have and how he likes to run it instead of adjusting to the players we now have in it.

Yep, Ben needed to be reeled in. Mason needs Washington in there.

I've believed this to be true for a long time, which is also why I think Ben hated Haley. Ben wants to do things a very specific way and often times that way is unconventional. Haley took that control away from him, didn't give him everything he wanted and as a result, he poured.

Ben clearly likes being in shotgun or we wouldn't use it as much as we do. Ben also clearly likes an empty back field.

Yes, Ben pushes for certain things, sometimes things that are detrimental to the team. But Tomlin and Colbert have allowed it. They've given him everything he wants. It's the coaches job to make the entire team successful, not just give the QB plays he likes.

Ben is a spoiled child, always has been, but the bigger problem is we apparently don't have an adult on the team to tell him no.

Until I see different results for years, I believe the entire coaching staff needs to go. I also don't want Ben back even if MR sucks. It's time to move on.
