As the QB he should be setting the culture. Practicing only twice a week is a part of the culture problem. Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed Roethlisberger play. Ben won on his physical skills. If he had the mentality of P. Manning or Brady, there would have been at least one more Lombardi in the case.

If this is his last season, it’s been a heck of a ride and a pleasure to watch.

Ok I hate to be the person who points this out because I'm sure everyone is right about his intentions but he doesn't exactly say he is done playing football. Just that he is done playing QB for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Nice. Ben lets some people know. Some added attention on the way out, maybe a big upset win. All Good for Ben.

Meanwhile Steelers in a rebuild mode for all to see. This is going to be interesting for Org. and Coach T. Colbert is a gone I`m thinking.

Tomlin signed a three year contract extension last year, so I don't think he's going anywhere.

I just hope it’s not 20+ years until we find our next franchise quarterback. Ben’s had a great career and Steeler fans everywhere should appreciate his toughness, but I can’t help but feel there was more there for the taking that wasn’t capitalized on. I think Chuck Noll got absolutely everything he could out of Bradshaw and they had 4 Super Bowls in 6 years to show for it. But the question has to be asked, did Tomlin get everything he could out of Ben?

The guy is a Hall of Famer. But it's time for him to hang it up. I'm glad that he's not going to try one year more when it would be even worse.

I already expected this to be Ben's last year, look at his reaction after they beat the Browns in Cleveland earlier this season.

Tomlin is here as long as he wants. But 2 or 3 years of losing will get him to buck.

there were times he was and those were the times that the best couldn’t sniff what he did... some terrible lines he had to compensate for... the better QB’s sacking themselves in order to live to fight another day hahahahaha... he gutted everything be it stupid to superb!

I would keep this hall of famer in there as long as I can while we look.
I remember the dark days before Roerhlisberger. You don’t just go out and get a franchise QB like that. Careful what you wish for.

I know Ben has struggled the last year or two but in his prime he was fun to watch. He was a tough SOB. If Brady played behind some of the o lines that Ben had he would have never survived. I still think Ben should have been Super Bowl mvp and not Santonio against the Cardinals. Watch Bens greatest plays on YouTube and it is truly amazing! I will miss him! I sure hope Tomlin gets out of town soon! The main reason Tomlin has never had a losing season is cuz Ben bailed his ass out so many times!

He should have hung 'em up after last season, but I can certainly understand not wanting to go out on that disaster against the Browns. I remember those years between Bradshaw and Roethlisberger well, but that doesn't mean it isn't time to move on.

Yes, agree. Will believe it when I hear it coming out of his lips. Incredible how so much information about so many people doesn't come from those people, always by sources. This reminds me of why we have MR on the team right now. Didn't Ben allude to his leaving before and we went out and got MR?

What other team would want him, seriously? And he wouldn't come back to be a backup

It’s not shocking but some of us were worried that if he wanted to come back, Rooney would let him.

But if Ben wants to hang them up, then it’s over and we can move on from whatever this was the last two seasons.

I posted above that his career has been a pleasure to watch but not these last two years. Like most athletes, he hung on too long.

I am more shocked by the return of Jack than Ben’s news.

Good to see you again buddy.
