Don't mind Busman, he also said Bell would be a Bust :lolol:

I know, it's astonishing some of the things people say. I will admit that Pouncey hasn't seemed the same after his first injury but the guy is still very good.

velasco will be 29 and Wallace will be 30. neither of which have a lot of wear and tear on them. we also have snow and olsen and embernate and hubbard. 6 guys that can play multiple positions. we could also damn near sign them all with what we save from cutting pouncey. none of them have as much wear and tear as pouncey does on his body.we have no money and surely don't have enough to re-sign pouncey to a long term contract. we ran the ball better and gave up less sacks with pouncey out of the lineup this year. go figure.:hmmm:

That is ludicrous ..pouncey has been in the league 3 years... He will be our starting Center for the next 5

And none of these players are near the level of player pouncey is...

how so? neither player has started as many games as pouncey, which also includes first team reps in practice. so no, they don't have the wear and tear of pouncey.

There is a huge difference in being injured at 24 and being injured at 29...the body does not bounce back as fast...

If these guys were such upgrades over pouncey why were they not on a roster in week 1?

trust me i loved the way velasco and wallace played, but age and ability are negatives...compared to pouncey...Ill go to battle with the 3 -time all pro as my starter and ill def. got to battle with wallace and velasco as back ups

This is completely false...we will have more than enough money to sign him...there will be more than enough to sign him when his contract is up... There are numerous options that we have to be able to sign him...

    Mangolds base is 2.5
Scott Wells is 5.5 and is the highest... Pouncey will fall in between somewhere...

Ike and Troy suck up around 23 mil of cap rom for next year.. those contracts will be off the books by the time pounce is ready to resign....plus there are many other scenarios that will clear cap space that i could get in to

your second comment--- Being the Offensive Line guru someone said you were->surely you don't believe that the reason we ran the ball better this year was because Pounce was out of the lineup? The entire offensive line came together and Jack Bicknell deserves some of the credit.

Beachum Played as one of the best LTs in the NFL the last 6 games-(off the top of my head he gave up only 1 sack and 4 pressures in that span but i will have to check)

    Foster Also Solid

Velasco/Wallace-- filled in well...neither can pull or get to the 2nd level like pouncey but they did their job...do you think a reason why they scrapped the outside blocking when pounce got hurt was because these guys aren't athletic enough?
    :hmmm:

Decastro-- He was a rookie in my book coming in-- It took him a few games to adjust as well as (speculation) get over the fact that he ended pounces season... he finally started to play with better leverage

Gilbert--As much as you hate on him he played solid the second half of the year...he had some hiccups, but overall he played good for a RT--of course he his not a LT some guys aren't, but he continuously graded out well throughout the 2nd half

Whimper, Adams---did their job when called upon...nothing flashy but solid--of course Adams was in over his head in the first 4 games, but no way do we give up on him just yet

Leveon Bell--do you think maybe he might have had a hand in making the Rushing offense look better? Just a thought...He really didnt get his feet wet until about the mid point in the season.. ironically when the running game started to pick up...kid is a horse...

Play calling...became less predictable...throw in a lil no huddle keeps the D off balance

These are the reasons why the steelers ran the ball better not because pouncey was out of the lineup

Yeah I did say Bell would be hit by the injury bug. And well it was a week after making this statement he went out injured LOL

So overall I was incorrect and I am glad to be wrong.

    #STAYCLASSY

Exactly. I am pretty sure the boys could give a rip about what AP thinks .. Its just something that keeps the media busy and we all know what they think of the Pro Bowl. Purely a popularity voting contest between fans which players could give a rats hinny about.

    Right here...

Highest pd center is 5.5 base

    Mangolds base is 2.5

he will fall in between---troy and ike will be off the books come time pouncey is ready to resign...23 mil off the books

I tend to disagree with comments here that we don't need to touch the line. I also disagree with getting rid of Pouncey. Pouncey and DeCastro are the only two guaranteed spots next year. If a better player becomes available, FA or Draft, the team will go for it for LT, LG, or RT. Foster is not the answer, he needs to be replaced. Beachum played well, given that he is going into his 3rd season next year, he can still get better. Adams will still be here, he may have a future yet. See how well he does with an off season where he doesn't get stabbed. Gilbert...I don't know what to say. Certainly, Ben getting rid of the ball quickly contributed to less sacks. The team also kept the score close, or had leads much the last 7 games, so running was an option. Bell catching balls off of screens also slowed down opposing pass rushes. What I would like to see, is Bell being contacted 4 yards down the field instead of 1 or 2. To do that, our oline has to get better.

Pouncey will demand more - no way he will accept in between those numbers. I say it here - he will be gone. Doesn't matter if you want to keep him or not. He will demand more money than the Steelers will pay and some team will pay it. There aren't that many centers out there who can get to the second level.

Beachum had a stellar last 6 games...i would be comfortable with him as the LT next year...i believe he gave up 1 sack and 4 pressures in the last 6?

Here is a link to info on Nick Mangold's 7 year/$50 million contract. There's no way that Pouncey will be happy to stay here for a 4/20-25 range. It's simply not happening.

    http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-jets/nick-mangold/

Chalk me up as being 100% in agreement with Mac on the state of the O-line, including Pouncey and Gilbert. My eyes tell me that Pouncey is the most overrated player on the team, and maybe in the entire NFL. Gilbert is a borderline starter/backup at RT only. I think he's good enough to have a shot at the starting RT spot next season, but I would make sure that he has competition.

Except for your take on Gilbert, I agree
totally with what you just said.I personally think
Gilbert and Adams do not belong in the NFL.

Go check out the way the contract is structured. It's back loaded. The same will happen to pouncey. 4-5 yr. 22-27 mill. + a signing bonus.

I'd bet on it next year. Even if it goes up to 30 +mil. It will be very affordable with Ike and Troy coming off the books.

As far as him being overrated I think being voted all-pro 3 of 3 years speaks for itself. I said in an earlier post there is a reason why they scrapped the zone blocking scheme when he went down.

    Get rid of Pouncey?!?!?

Well, I think this board has eliminated everyone that is associated with the team. Heath was my hold out, but alas, the board terminated his services as well, just a short time ago.

Basically, we have no coaches, players and we're looking for an owner too!

I think they should keep all three O lineman FAs.
