It is obvious that the Steelers have cut bait at this point. Rumors were they were still talking.

Players go where players go. Its about being wanted and of course the paycheck.

Not that I wanted to see him retained unless as a back up on the cheap.

A prime example of Mike Munchak's coaching abilities. Took AV, a D Lineman and made him into a starting Left Tackle.

If he is still available after the draft, and no replacement is taken in the draft, I would not be surprised to see him here as a backup.

But if he can get a guaranteed paycheck now, he has to look into that.

It was the same condition with Conner.

    A bird in the hand.....

AV won't be here as a backup. He isn't playing for money, he's playing for love of the game and pride. I doubt he'll go anywhere as a backup. He'll go where he has a chance to start.

Article I saw said they were kicking the tires in case Brown remains adamant about a trade but that the Ravens are always watching to not screw up their comp formula.

I don’t know if that place exists.

And a million here is better than nothing no where.

If he goes to the Ravens I doubt he will start, even if Brown is traded. Stanley is the LT and Villanueva is a bit long in the tooth to be switching sides. He is not a run blocker either, which is important in that Ravens scheme.

He will likely wait until after the draft when rosters start to settle, or when there is an injury at camp. He will get a job if he wants one, it may even be in Pittsburgh if the board doesn’t fall their way in the draft. If he does come back it won’t be as a starter though IMO

Hope he knows what he's doing. I'm assuming the Steelers still let players who walk "set the market".

I'm not so sure about that. Al V was said to have contemplated retirement.

Nothing, no where, may actually sound a whole lot better to Al, then backup to a below average LT.

I'm kind of surprised at the career he had with the Steelers.
I started hearing about him when he was with the Eagles.

I think this is mostly to set his market. The Ravens could offer him enough that the Steelers either over pay or lose him to a rival.....or maybe Al does not get the $ he thinks he is worth and comes home at value.

A tackle that has issues in the run game potentially going to a run heavy offense.......
    What am I missing here

This is why I believe the Steelers have had little interest in bringing him back. They want to ratchet up the run game and AV doesn't fit the bill. I believe he will be a back up wherever he winds up. Let him go to the crows. He should just retire.

Yep. I suspect Rooney finally put his foot down and we are transitioning back to a balanced offense. I bet our draft will reflect that change.

Much as I like Alejandro, the last few years he hasn't been that great at pass blocking either.

Maybe so, but I don't like players that I really like as individuals to even TRY to help our rivals.

With the downward trend of his play, it may be good for them to sign him.

I love Al respect his story, and service, he had some good years aa decent LT in the NFL.

But he has regressed the last 2 seasons. He can still sometimes decently pass block at times, but then sometimes he gets his lunch handed to him.
Also terrible at run blocking, chalk him up as a big reason why the Steelers finished 32nd the league in rushing.

So, it's not a huge loss if he goes to the Ratbirds.

If the Steelers B squad has no interest that should likely be clue it is time to hang up the cleats.
