The flashes we've seen of this guy in the AFC divisional game gives me bright hopes for him. He's very fast, can catch the ball and has some good size in him. The only work I see him needing is footwork and route running. Besides that, I can easily see him talking over the 2nd WR slot right beside Antonio Brown.

Coates has potential, but I don't see him being #2 WR this year.

Coates really needs to come into this training camp prepared and IN SHAPE.

Coach T called him out last year about being in shape. We need production from

Coates and DHB about 60 catches need to come from this position.

I think Coates is going to seize the opportunity. He's had a year to work on his routes and study along the best in AB.

He has all the other tools to be a great WR and I expect him to show it this season.

He didn't shrink from the challenge on a big stage in a big playoff game. He should only continue to build off of that.

I feel the same way. I think Coates comes in dedicated and ready for the challenge. And succeeds.

I think a saw a projected stat from PWP that had DHB on pace for 3,000 catches this year. So we should be good.

Going into the draft he was compared with Martavis Bryant: But with a year under his belt he should be ready to stretch the field big time this year:

    DRAFT PROJECTION
    Round 3
    NFL COMPARISON
    Martavis Bryant
    BOTTOM LINE
Big, fast and raw. Vertical wide receiver with the ability to hit big plays and have dominant games. Coates must be coached to trust his quarterback and run through his deep routes in order to reach his potential. He has early round traits and late-round receiving skills right now, but the upside will be hard to pass on and could pay off in a big way. He will be tethered to the JUGS machine in rookie camp.

Coates could be a boon in the red zone. With no Heath, we need a big red zone target.

Compared athleticism wise but without the character red flags.

Dude, I uniquely know about Green. I've been watching him here on the West Coast for two years. But having a big WR WITH Green is huge for Ben. Keeping those defenses honest in covering AB.

I think Bryant saved dhb's job. They were not going to resign him with brown,Wheaton,Bryant and Coates waiting in the wing. But by Bryant, weeding it up, then he was re signed. I even think we have another potential on the practice squad that could take dhb's spot

I think he'll do fine in his new expanded role. Anyone else think his name sounds like an old gangster (not gangsta) name? Better call Sammie Coates in for this!

I dunno. I'm not going to dub him the second coming, but he brings more to the table than he's given credit for. I think the coaches wanted to keep him round another year at least, regardless of MB.

Not much of a salary cap guru but if we can afford it, Roddy White would be nice in a 1-2yr deal. He could be the alternative of drafting a WR in the 3rd or 4th round

Coates even stated he was not in NFL shape, he will be this year no doubt about it.
