I look for great numbers this year from our receiving corp, next year it will become interesting.

AB will break the bank, Wheaton will leave for greener pastures, Steelers will purge MB from the scene.
So Colbert will have to find another wr, which he is capable of doing.

wr is not a given. sure we got AB and coates that may and probably will work out and had hines, but we also have had wheatons, DHB's, not bad players but we have also had sweeds, mike wallace's and sure martavis is good when playing but also not good for missing 20 games the last two years and demarcus ayers. people think every guy we bring in will be good but thats just not the case really. we have a solid group but it's not always the midas touch that we all feel is that easy to do. just saying everything he touches is not gold in that department. we just can't assume the next guy will be what we need to keep ben cruising.

I think we already have him ..I really like Rogers in the slot he is a lot better than Wheaton and we will still have AB,Coates, and DHB on the outside even if Wheaton and Bryant are gone ...

This is not a bash on Wheaton or Bryant , but this should be the starting 4 even if Bryant was here ...Coates has just as much big play ability as Bryant and he is a better blocker than him ....Rogers has a lot more short area quickness than Wheaton and he is a better blocker than him ...DHB on the outside is a lot bigger threat than Wheaton his speed alone spreads the field not to mention he is the best blocking WR on the Team...

Haley and crew tried to force Wheaton to step up last year he did at times ,but overall he did not..I think that approach will change this year and Rogers,Coates, and DHB will get more of those snaps .....

I think Wheaton may surprise a few people this year.

Rogers is promising, but he's still at the Derek Moye end of the receiver sliding scale.

Always liked Wheaton and think he will surprise like you say. People seem generally down on Wheaton. He hasn't shown more than glimpses of his top play but I like the direction he's heading. Not every guy comes in immediately and tears it up. Look at DHB, took him getting to Pittsburgh to gain confidence and rebrand himself. I think Wheaton hits his groove this year.

He didn't draft DHB but he's done well since he brought him over and all those other players not named Sweed have done a good job here. Even the hated Wallace, until his last season anyway, when he was playing not to get hurt and even then, I think he put up decent numbers IIRC.

Colbert and company do a hell of a job in the WR department. I'm not worried.

i get that we have a good group and our wr coach has done wonders with many guys since hes been here. he's a huge part of it too. this is no slight of KC either but many think we can just grab another great one any time we want and i don't think that is the case. losing mann will be huge in our success at plugging in new wr's down the line. thats what i'm getting at. it's not just that we pick them well but they have been coached well when they get here. he's been the difference maker for that position.

Rogers is better than Wheaton , Rogers hasn't played a down in a real NFL game. So far just a lot of training camp hype, while AB was shut down by Seattle last season Wheaton had over 200 yds receiving.

Yep he is better, I don't need the stats ...Wheaton was only covered by half a man most of the night, he did have a great game ,but that is not his normal...

Wheaton is not a good slot player, and Rogers is...And yes Rogers is a lot better blocker than Wheaton , just keep watching you will see...

Hyperbole. Guy hasn't even made the team and there is no film of him at the NFL level. You know damn well what you see at college level doesn't always translate to NFL level, if it did, no one would ever be wrong about a prospect.

Hope he is as good as he is being touted but he has an uphill battle.

Does DHB know that you're cheating on him?
Your understanding of how the game is played at the NFL level may be the worst I've seen.

Why you say that ? Are you saying Wheaton is a good blocker ?If so I can show you he is not...If you say Wheaton is good after the catch? I can also show you he is not..If you say Wheaton is great at reading defenses and finding open holes? Again I can show you he is not .....When he returned kicks did he show any vision or elusiveness ?

What little I have seen from Rogers he already shows better than Wheaton in all of those thus he is a better WR in my book....Instead of knocking Me and Rogers why not show proof that Wheaton is good at those things ? I know the answer..You can't prove something that is not true that's why ...

I will also let you in on a little secret ...Wheaton has some serious confidence problems ..There is a reason his QB builds him up so much..There is a reason the OC builds him up so much....There is a reason the Team as a whole tries to force feed him the ball....I guess I have to go bold and brash ...Rogers will all but replace Wheaton and this will be his very last year as a Steeler and he will probably be a huge flop with his next Team because they wont baby him like he gets here...

I'm not hating on Rodgers at all. At this point Wheaton is better until Rogers can prove otherwise.
Wheaton may be gone after this year, who knows.

As for you. Why do college head coaches rarely make a successful transition to an NFL head coach? You're stuck in a High school coach's mentality with your logic and it just doesn't translate to the NFL. Outside the box thinking that works in High school will get you killed in the NFL.

If and when Rodgers plays a real snap in the NFL we can discuss his ability. Right now he's just some college kid wanna be. Nothing more.

Well if Wheaton isn't gonna be our best option in the slot then where is he gonna be our best option?

First off Wheaton is above average wr who will take his talents to greener pastures next year,
just like Manny Sanders did and will catch his 60 balls a year and make boatloads of money.
Money wise we will not be able to keep him here, AB is going to break the bank at the WR position.
This is another reason why it will be so important to spot wr talent, we won't be able
    afford high end wr's.
