Weird. I just wrote this same observation on another thread. Sammie looks like the real deal.

The guy absolutely looks the part in person. Tall, slender, muscular and then he takes off and he's got some speed. That Denver playoff game wasn't a fluke. I think Coates will be an impact player this year.

He has the goods ,,I have no doubt about that ...I hope he becomes the complete WR #2 that this Team ,Ben,and AB deserves...Would have added fans to,but if he crosses all those T'S our I'S will be dotted as well......

I had thought they'd use him in the slot more in Training Camp.

He's got the size to be really effective blocking on run plays.

I thought he did really good in the playoff game against Denver last year, which really his first time getting a good bit of game action.
If there is one thing Kevin Colbert knows how to draft it's the WR position. With Limas Sweed the one that didn't work out.

From what I've been reading, it looks like all our wr's are impressing, including the hopefuls....
Don't be surprised if our cuts at the position find meaningful roles with other teams

I'm happy to see Coates working out. I wanted him out of college and felt the sky was the limit for him. I'm sure he will do something stupid real soon so we can discuss trading him. I'm thinking if we ask for a cheeseburger, fries and a large coke we might be able to get some team to throw in an apple pie!

I was impressed with him since the day Pittsburgh drafted. I saw no reason why he could not be this good then, and I still do not see any reason why he can't be this good or even better now.

Should he fill the void left by Martavis like I think he can, Martavis' loss will not be felt that much.

I'm relieved we won't be missing Bryant this year.

Oh they'll miss him, but Sammie can soften the blow a bit. Bryant was a real long stride speed guy with amazing in traffic cutting ability that was deceptively strong and getting better at hand fighting.

I still remember the INT by Suggs in that playoff game where Bryant just planted his guy and was gone for a TD if Ben had had the time to check down and throw it to him.

Yes - Bryants footwork in the open field was/is great, and he could seriously make people miss.

I've been rooting for Coates since he arrived, though, so pleased to see him living up to expectations.

Same here. I loved the Sammie Coates pick coming out of college! What was the knock on him? Was it his route running because of the lack of route options in college? or hands? The guy can lay a block though. Watched a lot of SEC that year and he was knocking dudes over!

Because I think it was about the same as the knock on Bryant IIRC (hands/route running)

Wasn't there some talk about inflated numbers because he played opposite Watkins and teams double covered him and left Coates in single coverage?

Martavis bryant was the one who played opposite Watkins in college

Guys made me go back and watch some highlights. Many of them he was being interfered with or was double covered while being interfered with.

    He victimized Golson a lot!

The combine guys were saying drops and double catches.

He should step right in when Wheaton leaves for greener pastures. WR will be a concern next year.
Colbert can evaluate the WR position.

I trust Colbert with the position, but can you imagine the WR group if Coates develops this year with Bryant out and Bryant gets his crap together? Bryant, Brown, and Coates along with Green and Bell? You can't double them all. It then is up to Ben to make smart choices to exploit what the D is giving him.

I think this year is gonna be special
    Predictions
-Healthy Ben -throws over 5k and candidate for MVP
Brown- over 2k recv yards and candidate for MVP... these two go hand in hand
    Offense- Avg 30pts a game
Bell- Even with suspension run for a 1k yds.
    D.Williams...900yds
