I read an article a few weeks back stating he's basically under our control(cheap) through the 2017 or 2018 season.

i hadn't seen that. i thought we just had him through 2016. he may be an erfa after that though. he will still want paid more as a starter i'm sure. we gave beachum a better deal when he became the starter. this is something worth monitoring that's for sure. thanks strummer.

The gist of it might have been that we've got him as an ERFA and then a RFA. So we wouldn't have to worry about paying him BIG $ until after the 2019 season. Kind of sucks for him since he's a couple years older already, but hey he's playing football for a living.

Yeah, he'll be an ERFA in 2017. I'd have to think that if he continues to progress, the Steelers would sign him to an extension more commensurate with performance before then, but you never know.

He's ERFA for at least the next two seasons, which means he remains dirt cheap and has no leverage. If steelers are walking away from Beachum, they have a lot of options in how to handle AV

I'd like the chance to get over creating a reputation for myself as a troll and say that in all likelihood Timmons will be extended.

My concern his signing will force some younger Steelers to be cut is just an opinion.

Thinking about how much Tomlin likes Timmons (his first draft pick) makes me realize there is no alternative to extending/re-signing Timmons.

He will be back. And he's been a horse playing 95% of the snaps last year and missed 2 games in his career. Great player.
